A Fine Weekend At Bristol
I'm still boycotting that website, but a friend of mine isn't, and just called to tell me...
For the Busch altercation between Kevin Harvic and Greg Biffle on Saturday, Harvick was fined $15,000 and will be on probation until Aug. 28. Biffle wasn't fined. And for the Winston Cup altercation between Robby Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Sunday, Gordon was fined $10,000 and was placed on NASCAR probation for the next five months until Aug. 28. Dale Jr. was fined $5,000, however, was not placed on probation. I checked That's Racin', Jayski's, and CBS Sportsline, and none of them have the story yet. |

BTW...how is the boycott going? I have avoided getting into the debate about it, but I also have been avoiding the site too as a show to keep more things on the net free of charge where ever possible. But their new fee does hurt the fans abroad who enjoyed following the race on the computer with the lack of coverage outside the states.

For me, it's going fine. I don't need NASCAR.COM. There are plenty of other places to get the same information. But my friend that called about this last weekend, said they got the usual amount of hits as ever. So just as I predicted, our boycott appearently had no effect whatsoever. It will take at least a 2\3 drop in hits over a long period of time before they pay any attention at all, and that isn't very likely. Besides, the reality of it is, even if they decided they wanted to go back to the way things were, with Racecast being free again, they can't. They have a legally binding contract with Real Networks now, and they can't just say "We changed our minds." They would have to have some legal reason to break the contract or Real Networks would sue them, and probably win.
