Electric Winches
Quick one lads.
I've got myself a new box trailer for this season and have bought an electric winch for it. Main reason being, if you take a corner off your Formula Ford, it's a bit awkward getting it in a box. What is the best way to mount it. I would have thought it would be okay bolted through the trailer floor, but a few people have siad I should table mount it. I would have thought it would be okay on the floor though as the cars are so low. Any thoughts on this??????? Cheers |

Chris, I'd say table mount it. If you look at most trailers with winches, they are all about 30 to 40 cm above the floor.
Our trailers are like that and it works fine. With low mounted winches the cable quite often damages the floor. |

Some electric winches have manual backup functions (ie, a handle) so that if you have a flat winch battery or it fails for some reason, then you can still use the winch. |
