Guinti accident?

In 1971 Ignazio Guinti was killed in Argentina. What exactly happened? I know it was someting to do with Beltios pushing his car and Guinti crashing into it.....

I hope Tim and Paul don't mind me posting a link to another forum, but you'll find an extensive discussion of this tragic affair here:

Seaman should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
This was in the World Sportscar race at Buenos Aires. Jean Pierre Beltoise in a Matra ran out of fuel. He was pushing his car back to the pits to refuel. Ignazio Giunti in the works Ferrari was slipstreaming another car, pulled out and crashed into the Matra and exploded.

There followed a lengthy and unpleasant legal battle, at one point Beltoise being threatened with criminal prosecution, lifetime bans from racing, and, if the Italian had got their way, censure by the Pope! The following year Beltoise won his only Grand Prix at Monaco. As for Giunti, he had a promising future, having made his F1 debut for Ferrari the previous year. A sad affair all round.
