Photos from 3 hour enduro at Taupo

Went down to the 3 hour endurance meeting at Taupo last weekend for one of the support races. The 3 hour was quite interesting in the rain. The little Civic and the Toyota's were giving the V8's, Porsches and RX7's a real hurry up.

Now the question is, does anyone know the final result? I was kind of wet from working on my car in the rain and had been up since about 4am (drove down from Auckland that morning) so I didn't stay to the end. The results are not on the Taupo car club web site, and I tried a web search.

Thanks nzduck. It looks like I left not long before the race end. So the Mustang won in the end - it was certainly running well all day.

I'm curious about the Commodore V6 in second place. I'm wondering what spec engine they were running - maybe ex-formula Brabham single seater? It certainly seemed to work quite well in the wet conditions.

Where are we Mal??

Sud and Duck, good to see some action from the Shakey Isles.

But tell me where the track is, I have been to the North Island about 6 or 7 times and never realised there was a track at Taupo (anywhere near the DC3 on a stick!! Cherry Island? Devils Gate? etc )

Hi GTB, if you take the road North-East you go past the cicuit - the link below shows the Centenial Park Gliding airfield (red markings). The track is right next to the gliding airfield:

Current 1.4km track details are here:
http://www.motorsport.org.nz/Tracks/taupo.htm

There's some track info at the Taupo Car Club web site including the proposed new 3.4km track layout:
http://www.taupocarclub.org.nz/files...plan_large.jpg

As for classes of cars, the most popular are V8 Tourers, Formula Ford, Formula Vee, TraNZam (a.k.a Trans Am), Mini 7, Porsche series, Historics.
