Wanted to share some photos from today's race with you guys

Hey guys, I was out at the races today shooting for Texas Driver Magazine (just a hobby) and thought you guys might like some of the images. I've sized them all down to 1280*X resolution, but I have 8.2mpixel originals if anyone is interested. Not here to sell anything, just enjoying the hobby!

Take care and drop me a note if you have any comments or want anything specific. I think I took around 475 images today from all over the track / roof / press box / pits.

Thanks guys! Let me know if you have a favorite driver or request and I'll see what I can dig up. These pictures were taken with a Canon 20D 8.2 mpixel digital SLR using a Canon 100-400mm zoom with image stabilization if there's any camera nerds on the board

Wow, those are some of the best pics I've ever seen of the IRL. If your looking for work, send those in to TG. They are that good!

You have any of Scott Sharp in the Delphi #8 car? Much appreciated!

Thanks GP.. I appreciate the kind words. I'm going to show my ignorance here, but who/what is TG? I assume it's a racing publication? Let me see what I can dig up of Sharp...

Oh sorry, TG is Tony George, the owner of the Indianapolis Speedway and the Indy Racing League.

Are you a racing fan at all, or did you just happen to get great tickets? What did you think of the race anyway?

Thanks for digging!

Well....

I'm a fan, but I'm pretty new to IRL, I shoot casually for Texas Driver Magazine and cover exotic car events. It's a hobby, but I'm a perfectionist... I HATE poor photography, especially people who shoot for big bucks and turn in ****. I really enjoy shooting moving vehicles over static stuff, so anything at the speedway is my cup of tea!

Anyways, here's a couple shots I grabbed for ya' of Sharp... I probably have some others, but these will get you started

Take care,
Adam

BTW, I had full press credentials and unlimited access at the track, so I shot some from the roof, the pit wall, inside the circle, etc etc etc. That's one side perk of shooting for a magazine on the side, is they get me in anywhere I want to go. I don't make a dime on it, and I've put about $8,000 of my own money in equipment, but it's a fun hobby!

I reckon it's a matter of having the right "connections", but with pictures like the ones above I wouldn't be surprised if you would be able to sell some of them

Might be easy for me to say though, with no experience whatsoever of trackside photography - wouldn't surprise me if it perhaps is a rather cut-throat business, especially these days when it's so much easier to send off images for publication etc...

Yeah it's all about who you know (and who needs what pictures at what time.) Shooting things like Nascar races are a lot easier to sell images to companies and individuals because the fan base is just that much larger. I don't think Nascar is as fun to shoot, and I'm not as interested in the sport, so it's a question of doing something you really enjoy or doing something to make a buck. I'm doing something I enjoy

I mainly shoot Ferarri, Porsche, Lambo, Aston Martins, and other exotics for our magazine, but unless I can fly to Italy or Germany, I'll rarely get to see these cars flat out at top speeds like at the IRLs. Most of them are shots of the owners with their cars, being rubbed by diapers. That's great for getting published in the magazine, but there's just not the atmosphere like there is at the big race days!

Hi Adam again encredible pics.

Was this your first Indy car event, just wondering if you had any previous seasons because I would really want to see Hornish's Pennzoil Panther cars they were nice.

You guys can use them for whatever makes you happy. If you need a specific driver or shot or resolution, shoot me an e-mail (adam@golilm.com) and I'll work it out for ya.
