A.J Foyt, why 4 ?
So far I thought A.J Foyt 4 was the A.J FOYT's grand son.
So why 4 ? Maybe it's to celebrate his four win at Indy ! |

A.J. Foyt is actually A.J. Foyt, Jr. Hence, the new Foyt is Foyt IV.

I really can't stand all these Juniors. Not only is it confusing for everyone else, what happens when you have a second son? What do you call him? Can you view him in the same way as the son who shares your name?
Either way, Foyt IV isn't ready for top-level racing now, he'd've been okay fi the series was still at 2001 levels but he needed anotehr year in IPS, or Atlantic. |

It's a bit of a tradition to name your kid 'junior' in the Southern US... It seems odd to me too, but very common there.

AJ Foyt the First was normally known as Tony Foyt, so when AJ started he was not generally known as AJ Jr but AJ.

The problem is that "jr" is attribued on a family, and not racing, basis.
If there had been 5 more AJ in their family, he would have been AJ IX. Eddie Cheever is called "jr" too, but his father did everything but racing, I guess, being managing director of the italian branch of American Contourella |

Ugh... This poor kid _needs_ a career ending but not permanently crippling injury, just so his grandfather can't put him in that car anymore! I'm losing all respect I ever had for AJ, he's going to get his grandson killed if this continues. The kid's just completely out of his depth, did you see how easily he lost it at Richmond?
