Will Mercedes ever be back?
99 saw the swansong for Mercedes in the GT catergory. The scheme run by Mercedes brought in many talented drivers such as Webber and Dumbreck and Heidfelt. We could do with a similar scheme today , but will Mercedes ever return to Gt racing after their hair-raising experience at Le Mans 2 years ago? I'd like to see them back as the CLK and CLR were both great looking cars!

This question would have been raised had the net been available in the 50's. So another 40 odd years Merc might make another toe dip in the water.
I think it was only due to Peter Sauber racing a Merc engined car, with some success, that brought them back into racing at LM last time. Simon |
