JMB Maserati LMP1 for 2005?
I've copied this from a post at Speed TV.
There are suggestions that this is for ALMS. I don't know if this is rumour, the source or anything. But it is interesting to talk about for now. Maserati WP - a point on the project 30/12/03 Da We propose to you to give a progress report on the progress report of the WP project initiated by Maserati. Not of Trofeo Light but of the "supercar" announced for 2004. A denomination which we prefer still used with quotation marks insofar as any remainder still to be written on the category. Always it is that the general design of the car is stopped. According to our information, if before takes again certain features characteristic of the models of road, the back would be "prominent". The engine, V12 in central position postpones, turns to the bench. The project did not take delay on initial planning since the first turns of wheels are envisaged during January 2004. For an arrival in competition always programmed in September of the same year. This project is 100% Maserati and does not appeal has any knowledge to make external as it was the case our F575 GTC with N-Technology or Italtechnica for Trofeo Light. The car, of which we are unaware of the denomination, will be presented officially at the press on 4 next March in opening of the living room of Geneva. Two models of the WP will be presented at this occasion: one of series and a second intended for the competition with different tone of body. On this subject, the red color, even in a darker tone drawing on the Bordeaux wine, will not be taken again in competition. |

Mmm, weird. In their press release, two or three days old, they say this:
"Finally, in the last semester of 2004, JMB Racing will take hold of their first Maserati GT." So... |

I think my friend who has the website broke this story from his trip to Europe. There will indeed be a proper Maserati GTS/GTP (not sure of which way yet) based on their new 6000GT limited run supercar (they will make roughly the same as the Enzo @500.) he will be back in the states today so I will ask him more of it. I know that JMB will run at least one and the first official pictures will be in March. As the article says, first race appearance in 10 months or so.

This news is now being widely reported in Europe and has been confirmed by Maserati.
It will not be a prototype (in the LMP1, LMP2 sense of the word) but will be a contender in GT, N-GT. JMB expects a 4th quarter delivery and will officially announce the car in March. Maserati hopes to quicken the project to track as the Trofeo is not exactly a media magnet. |
