DC back in the Hunt
A great drive and a hard earned win. Coulthard is living up to his own expectations as Hakkinen's luck is turning him into Mika Amon.
Good job, David. |

I DID say that if DC wins this year I'll eat my feet. That still DOES apply, but my toes are now a little more twitchy.

Well, I'll eat my feet if Tarso Marques wins this year, that's as brave as I am in that respect.
DC could very well win this year, in fact I hope he does. He is very consistent, and seems to have that bit of luck needed to actually pull it off. Go DC!!! |

Not to mention far better luck, he seems imune from the legendary curse of Murrey Walker that effects so many Brits .

This old fart still believes in the "horses for courses" theory.
Pre-traction control... Michael & David were even in points...it would be fairly safe to say that Melbourne & Interlagos are "McLaren tracks".....that Sepang is "Fiorano East"...and Imola...hmmmm McLaren has been really good here..it seems when Ferrari wins here it is either Mika falling off the road or Brawn beats Dennis....I'll say 55/45 a McLaren track.... so 2 wins for Michael...1 win for David...equal on points. Gizmo time..... Both Spain & Austria are McLaren tracks. "Luck be the Lady Tonite" is the theme song for these 2 races. Combine these 2 races and poor Mika doesn't complete even one race distance. Michael lucks out at Catyluna big time..... David is in the right place at the right time at the A-1. sooooo after these 2 races held on McLaren tracks.... Michael and David each have one win... Michael has a very slim 4 point lead. I believe the next two races are going to be very important in deciding the WDC in either David or Michaels favor. I would put both Monaco & Montreal into the "Ferrari track" catagory....they are both high downforce circuits that have in the past suited the Ferrari. David has won at Monaco (with the help of attrition) and drove very well but suffered some bad luck when I was at Montreal in 1997. If David comes out of these two races trailing Michael by under 10 points ( or obviously leading Michael..)he has a very good shot at the championship...but if he trails in double digits he could be in big trouble because those high speed circuits we will see down the road (Silverstone, Spa, Hockenheim, and even Monza...) may have been McLaren circuits in the past but these will favor the Williams-BMW/ Michelin package... soooo David just might be fighting for 3rd's or 4th's with Michael...big difference between 10 & 6 points compared to 4 & 3 points when you're playing catch-up.....plus throw in the odd DNF's that have to show up somewhere on David's card..and for that matter...Michael's.........the next 4 weeks could be the begining.....or the end of David's true chance at a WDC.... take care, all Murph |
