He is a tough nugget.. and I am sure he will fight this demon. It should remind us all, to buy a daffodil. |

While I know that many of you have been critical of his commentary, I believe he brings a lot of 'colour' into it so I hope he returns to the microphone soon.
Get well Baz! |

I believe the best way he can be described is 'loves the sport, honest and oooohhhh will you look at that!'

Dam...that's 2 big cancer announcements in one day. I found out yesterday that Ozzy Osbournes missus Sharon has just been diagnosed with colon cancer.
To both I wish a speedy recovery. The V8 telecasts aren't the same without you Bazz. |

The following was released this afternoon by SEL on behalf of Barry Sheene:
Media Release from Barry Sheene Friday, August 23, 2002 On July 22nd I was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus and upper stomach. Although this is a complete “pain in the arse” it happens to a lot of people and a lot of people get over it. I will do everything within my power to beat this thing. I and my family would appreciate privacy at this time so I can get on with fighting this in my own way. At this time I feel there is nothing more for me to add and I thank all my well-wishers for their thoughts. |

Channel 10 put the story on the news tonight - I'm sure this story has come as a shock and saddened us all.
Anyhow on the news they said you could leave Baz a message at barry@network10.com.au (or maybe it was @networkten?) so I just thought I'd let you all know Get well soon Baz |

Get better big fella
Baz brings something to V8 commentary that Matthew White doesn't have....maybe it's knowledge and enthusism? |

All the best Bazz! You don't become a champion without being tough, and Barry is as tough as you'll find. Hope to see him back at a racetrack shortly.
Typical Sheene-style description of it as a "pain in the arse" . Good Luck Barry! |

This is the same type of cancer that John Thaw died from. It is very hard to get to, they may have to keep shrinking it in chemo. Very Sad.

In Tuesday's Melbourne Herald-Sun the following article haas been written about Barry rejecting chemotherapy and instead opting for a 'natural remedy' treatment for his cancer.
personally I hope this isn't the case, but it is Barry's decision. http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/com...E12173,00.html |

Umm, really depends on how far along the cancer is but I would be giving chemotherapy every chance. There is no problem with combining that with diet. That said though, the power of remaining positive is of utmost importance. The thing is oesophageal and gastric cancers do not have a good outlook.
