Ralf to renault?
F1-live.com is reporting that Ralf Schumacher will sign a deal to race for Renault next year.
Personally I find this very hard to believe. Just yesterday Briatore said in the team's press release "We have a good chassis, a good engine and good drivers". I highly doubt that he would want to break up the good team chemistry that Alonso and Trulli share so early in the season. I also doubt that he would want to bring on Ralf when he has Webber under contract. If this is true however, is Ralf really that much better than Trulli to make a swap for next year so early in the season? |

That is certain ly the least expected move that Ralf would make.......I doubt it, Briatore has plenty of his own stable of drivers to plonk in that seat. And he'll probably keep Trulli.

Quite possible if you ask me (which you didn't but anyho ). Webber's locked down at Jag and Trulli's management contract with Flav finishes at the end of the year. Trulli would be way cheaper than Ralf for Williams and Flav wants a change.

Well Weber is saying everythings discussed and it is only a contract that needs signed.....which is supposedly imminent.
Ralf in a Renault.......I just can't visualise it! |

More likely another crack at getting Williams to meet Weber's demands.
I can't see why Renault would want Ralf frankly. Why not put Webber or Montagny in the car? |

Well Formula 1 is go! its not even a silly season anouncement. This will cause a great shuffling and boosts the position of DC, Webber and JB. Trulli is going to have problems from this tho should imagine as the only place alonso is going is Ferrai, but not for a few years. Told you that Ralph was toast at williams (wasnt the only one who worked this out of course) Thinking about it Webber can probably be discounted as he is managed by Flav. Ralf to Renault.. hmm. So it will be Alonso/Button with Webber at Williams in 2005. Cool.
I think its a sensible decision by Ralf to join Renault. Michael's old buddy Flavio will see that he is in a comfortable position there. Also a great oppurtunity for Webber/Alonso/Button/ even Kimi to join Williams. |

My guess is Alonso Ralf at Renault, and Fisi (let me hope) Webber for Williams. Looks very interesting indeed!

Inigo, I get the feeling the it might be possible for Fisi to sneak into Williams now. I think Bernie will definitely support him just like he helped him in getting a seat at Sauber. To maximise his chances, Fisi better attend ESL classes. He needs those...

Man I can't believe Renault would even want him...Ralf is so mediocre its not even funny..plus he doesn't seem to fit in with the Renault image at all...ahhh well here's hoping Frank gives him the boot early this yeah and Villeneuve gets a shot

Doesn't it seem sad that drivers like Fisichella, Coultard, Barrichello, and Ralf all have secure seats in F1, despite having had race winning cars for many more seasons than Jacques, yet failing to chalk up as many wins as he (let alone a WDC) that it is Jacques who doesn't have a drive in F1??? Sad indeed. |

I would rather have someone like Bourdais or Jacques in that seat, hell even the likes of Montagny would be better!

I'd be dissapointed if Renault signed Ralf, there are far more talented drivers in the field that Flavio could sign.

I cant believe F1 silly season has started already.
Even better is how we get taken in by it all This time last year wasnt Rubens supposed to be on his way out of Ferrari? Wasn't Ralf supposed to be Gay? and Trulli? Rumour mill the only thing that seems to be working overtime at the mo |

Has someone in a red Fila jacket offered Flavio some big bucks for Alonso????
Who at Ferrari would he replace, then? Would a certain driver retire? Will Button leave BAR? If they finish fifth in the constructors then he has no out-clause. Would Sir Frank pay big to get him back? Will Webber go to Williams? That's easy. Will Fisi go to Williams? That's a bit more tricky. Will Scott Dixon go to Williams? Now that's a good one! He's already had talks with them, and we know how Sir Frank values Chip's opinion!!! Where does DC go? Jag? Does Kimi stay put? Or does he move to Ferrari/Williams? Will Jean Todt put his son's pay cheque above ability and sign Massa? Will Jacques V. return? Wear would Trulli go if not at Renault? Would he go to Sauber en route to a possible fairytale Italian-in-a-Ferrari drive? Who will Toyota go with? DC? Briscoe? Scott Dixon? Klien/Wirdheim at Jag? Or would DC drive their on low $$? Davidson anywhere? Will Jordan and Minardi still be around? Wow, that's alot of questions to answer... |

Alonso is currently one of the biggest target as a replacement for Michael Schumacher, who is bound to retire in the coming couple of years.
And with Williams supposedly trying to get Webber in one seat,Flavio's boys are certainly in hot demand. I don't doubt that Flavio, while love his star drivers, grab the chance to make a great deal and sell his two drivers. Afterall, Flavio thinks he has another star-in-waiting in their third driver Frank, and that a Webber/Ralf switch would actually mean a great deal (ralf takes a pay cut + Williams pay some $$). And Alonso, if Ferrari decides to get him, would be gone for a huge price. Flavio has a surplus of good drivers, hence knowing that the span of drivers are relatively short, would cash in when possible. Flavio's a businessman first, afterall. |
