NW FF1600 SEASON FINAL ROUND CANNED
I have just been informed that the scheduled final Oulton Park round of the 2004 season on Sat 9th October has been cancelled
The decision not to run this meeting, at all, has been taken by BRSCC HQ. I will get on the case first thing Monday to try to sort out a remedy. Last edited by diz; 28 Feb 2004 at 10:55. |

Why not make the Walter Hayes count as a round with Double points to encorage people to go.
On the other hand, giving double points may allow a 'lucky opportunist' to come from a long way back to win the championship. The series must be constructed in a way to only allow 'worthy' champions. Furthermore, the concept of allowing dropped scores/rounds has always been a strange concept to me. All rounds should count in my opinion. Whats the point of dropped scores? There is no point. |

Thats just tough if an engine blows. In my opinion, you work hard to take bad luck out of the equation. Why give everyone a 'get out of jail free this weekend' card? it means that unreliability/driver error/bad day at the office etc. goes unpenalised.

I think the reason it is there in most championships is not to penalise those with other commitments who may have to miss a round or two. Maybe slightly less applicable to a regional series.

What are your views on running a replacement round - possibly the last one, but not necessarily - at a different venue?
Rockingham - same date Silverstone - WHT Mallory in August Anywhere else we could get into. Would you travel to 'experience' a different circuit? |

If we were to have a replacement round, I would be willing to travel. Rockingham appeals to me as its an un - known track to the majoroty of us. I think this would give fairer competition as track experience would play less of a role in determining the race outcome, making for a more interesting race...?

ohh yeh rockingham, facilities are great, pits (atleast the garages anyway) are amazing, showers are positively amazing! track would probably be fun in a ff1600 to, was a lovely sound hearing the supersports going round, all the nose bouncing off the grandstand and pits!

as its the final roudn as well, the championship may be decided by then and a completely new circuit would be a fun winddown for the season
i vote rockingham, simply because the road to the infield is great for apexing all the corners in a road car and the tunnel sounds good with me exhaust |

yeah, if it is the final round we could see an away circuit loosing entries because things could already be decied. I say stick Rockingham right bang in the middle of the calendar if poss - so long as it doesnt clash with any FRenault meets please.

I would be well up for going to Rockingham. What about Donnington? Would that be an option? Would love to race there. Diz, would it be possible to have a round at the WHT as it is BARC event?
Diz have we got a DH on the international circuit this year? If not, why not stick the extra round on that meeting making it a DH? would be a cheap option. |

Just had a breakfast time thought.
I don't suppose OP will be lying dormant on 9 Oct. Perhaps whoever takes over the date might take us. |

I am with JnrJnr I have done a track day on the Hostoric circuit at the Rock and it was great fun. I would love to have a race on the full circuit and like Jur says it would be good to get people to try a new track

Diz we have the buying power of 50+ formula fords - that is over £8,250 towards the running of a race day. Surely we could go to most clubs and offer our cars for a slot during the day? If so then my choice would be -
1) Donington 2) Croft (everyone can stay with Hutch!!) 3) The Rock 4) Formula Ford Festival..... Last edited by Redracer77; 29 Feb 2004 at 10:56. |

A bit like Customer Services, when it would be a fine job to be in, if it wasn't for the customers spoiling it. I know I have mentioned it before, but a FF1600 Drivers Club - set up as an MSA recognised club - could run FF1600 where and when we wanted to. Another can of worms just opened methinks. |

Keep Walter Hayes as it is, no offensive to the Northern Gurus but I wouldn't want to see the WH trohpey detracted from as a regional round...oh yes and a stand alone event.
It is a great event and from what I have read, well respected, leave it as is - a blue ribbon event. Imagine saying "could we make the festical the final round" it just isn't "right" |

we didn't say that it would be part of the WHT but it could be another race on the same weekend.
Can we do the bigger circuit at the WHT this year...! |

Even so Chris - I wouldn't want to see another FF1600 race tacked onto the side of either the WHT or the Festival. Everyone go to Rockingham and share the grid with SOM.

SOM seem desperate for drivers this year.....! Is this because you only had 4 cars on the grid for Rockingham last year LOL

I believe rockingham to be the best option. Everyone gets chance to experience a new circuit, and it may upset the usual order of the field.
I wouldn't be in favour of putting on the WHT meeting either. That should just be left how it was last year, a fantastic, well-supported event, but with no championships to sort out on the same day. |
