I went up to spectate. First time to a race meeting in Britain. I couldn't marshall because that dang thing called a job got in the way. A little different then SCCA meetings over in the states, but very neat.

I wish I had a few more weeks over here to make it to a meeting to marshall, but alas, my time is done thursday.

Thanks for the thanks.

At least the weather improved for Sunday afternoon.

At least you were out there!

Yeah, thanks all. I enjoyed my weekend even if my race was a little shorter than planned.

Hello to anyone here who is one of the marshals I met on Sunday when my car broke down at the bottom of the main straight.

falcemob: Hello! I didn't get a chance to speak to you over the weekend even though we were almost neighbours in the paddock.

Thanks to all involved. I didn't envy anyone their job out on a marshals post in that rain. At least I could go hide in my van!

Mik,

Hope it wasn't a large bit that fell off, or serious?

Turned out that the pulley had come adrift from the water pump. Speaking to the other drivers afterwards no-one had ever heard of that happening before! It's not supposed to be a removeable part.

Oh well, such is life on the racetrack I guess. Should be easily fixed anyway although I think it damaged the radiator too on it's way out of the car.

Thanks to everyone who turned up (drivers, officials, spectators, etc, etc) to keep us soggy marshals company! We've certainly had worse meetings than that at Croft in the past, and if anyone has the chance to see the Formula Jedis ths year have a look, they're quite exiting

Next Croft meeting is May 1st/2nd For F3's (trying to cram in lost races from Silverstone into an already packed schedule I'll bet ) All marshals more than welcome, large camping area available if required.

Al.

The lost races won't be caught up at Croft or Knockhill from what I hear.

Yes, thanks - it was a very good weekend. And I now *HEART* the Forumal Jedi.

Yes, Falcemob, Mik and I did come over a couple of times to say hello and invite you over for beers, but you always seemed to be getting changed or whatever. Anway, much enjoyed watching your race with the green Reliant Sabre...

I personally liked the Jedi that tried to impersonate a McLaren.

Exploded heading into Clervaux, in a slightly largish way.

Mik, I was sitting in the bleachers when I looked down and saw you sitting there. Glad the problem wasn't too major.

Yup, Many thanks to all you Marshalls and volunteers who braved the weather at Croft this past weekend. Us Jedi drivers really appreciated it, especially the amount of work you had to do in our first race

We've got over 32 drivers registered this year which should see grids of at least 27+ at most events.

We have also got quite a few karters using the jedi challenge to graduate to cars this year. This should provide some excellent track action through 2004.

We had a great time... thanks again.

Ken said we had been invited to a b-b-q and some beers, was that by you?
Ken and his mate were so cold that we all went to the pub over the road from the cicuit approach but thanks anyway.
My race on Sunday was an embarrasment. I was a full 16 seconds a lap slower with my wet weather tyres than I had been in similar conditions on Saturday with Yokos. I had no grip at all and struggled to keep it in a straight line. At least it made the girl in the Sabre happy as she had someone to race until she spun off and the guy in the white Davrion has not finished a race for a year and he beat me to win the class.
It was still a good weekend though.

Yes Tim - that was us, I met Ken a while back (about 2 years ago at Rockingham) - also he lives just down the road from me... No worries, I don't blame you for going to the pub, the weather was a bit bleak See you at Rockinham?

73_Gstock - good report, I've posted it on the Triumph forum (not sure if it's accesible for 'non-members' It should be - http://www.tssc.org.uk/messageboard.asp?board=racing

Glad you enjoyed the day.

Richy_Rich, Tell your buddies over at the TSSC.org site that my use of meatball is slang for the black and orange disc flag. I guess the rumored fire explains the use of said orange and black flag. I can't post over there as I'm not a member, but did have a laugh at the difference in language. It's nice to confuse some Brits after being very confused over too many wierd words during my trip!

Hehe, 73_Gstock I think I told them in the end. I had heard the term before (watching NASCAR I think) I've not heard it used much here though.

Yeah, apparently lots of marshals etc. saw the fire, but we couldn't find any evidence of it afterwards and Dave said he couldn't smell any smoke...

Tim in action at Croft:

Everything was soggy, including we photographers. Well looked after by the marshals as usual. More Croft pictures here: www.motorpix.co.uk/crclas.htm

See you at the F3 weekend.
