Yup, although CCWS has yet to make an official announcement. My guess is they will announce next week sometime.

Well, I can't wait to actually attend my first ever Champ Car race. Maybe even both.

This is pretty strange and is being discussed at several fora. The website announcing Assen and Zolder and has spawned the comments and discussions -- for a good 10 days now -- is this one:

http://www.champcar.nl/pages/news.php?lg=de

Now, is this an official CC website in The Netherlands? Since when has CC had a site in the Netherlands? If it's an official CC site, you'd think they could spell Fittipaldi's first name right on their home page. CC hasn't announced anything yet in regard to Europe. If it's a done deal on CC's end of things, why isn't CC singing loud and long? Are the promoters in The Netherlands trying to put pressure on CC by announcing something that isn't yet signed?

It all may be true, but it's sure very strange.

They also have the first race listed there as Long Beach. I doubt very much its the official website, but more of a Dutch fan base in Europe for Champ Car. Basically the home but technically unofficial you'd believe.
Also they have a forum which is very similar in style to CW/CCF so it can't be...

the official ats(german)formel3 cup site has this:

"Another venue of two highlights of the 2007 season will be Assen, Netherlands. On 12th August, the ATS Formula 3 Cup will be the main attraction of the Rizla Race and just three weeks later (02nd September), it will be a professional European component of the ChampCar event."

That's all fine....and I've found some other websites with various things on it -- even, in the link that started this thread, that ticket sales have started for Assen -- but why doesn't CC say anything about it?

Yes...

why the waiting? i think that a lot has to do with is Verstappen gonna drive or not?(he did a demostration in a Tyrell F1 car last week in a Minardi overall! with Muermans watching...)
So things should come together round the 15 jan. (Stoddart,Muermans,Verstappen,Heylen,Legge,TT Assen,Trust..... )

If the ticket sales have started, that's crazy on Champ Car's part not to announce it's official on ccws.com!

I can see the Legge connection to Minardi USA as she did a Formula 1 test for Paul at Minardi and of course Verstappen with the Euro races and sponsership, I think its going to be either of them two who land the 3rd ride at Minardi as I hope Clarke and Nelson are not replaced as I said in another thread, both are decent drivers now.

It just doesn't seem like Minardi to have 3 drivers which is possible, they were the under dogs in Formula 1 and I could just seem them being a one car effort being the under dogs and everything with Katherine Legge, another great figure amongst Paul.
But I guess they wouldn't want to do it alone and lose out on data with the new car. So he bought into CTE/HVM.

It seems to me that they are waiting for something else, thats close to being a done deal, to give the announcement more impact.

One thing that gets me is that the two Europe races are at the beginning of september, one week after the other.

That STILL leaves a five week gap until Surfer's in October.

I suspect that they (CC) may announce the driver line up on the 15th. they need to have that settled before they start testing.

The link you added is the German version of the site, which is relatively new and news items are not posted by the Dutch editors. It is not an official ChampCar site, but the owner is in the"official Champ Car media" list.

I've mailed the webmaster of the site to find out where Long Beach calendar problem comes from as all the other items do say Las Vegas.

Btw, this website is in direct contact with the European race organisers and know when to publish newsitems and when not to publish news.

There is no such thing as putting pressure on CC as the deal will be announced as soon as the title sponsor wants it. Let's just say the promoter wanted to arrange the 2 circuits first.

ChampCar.nl is NOT the official Dutch race website. They are the Official Event Newspartner though.

The official website of the race will be online later.

Anyone can be on the CC media list, or anyone else's for that matter. And if the promoter is confirming a deal AND selling tickets, why isn't CC confirming it?

FYI, here's another one:

Just saying they're not related to the CCWS organisers.

I have good hopes they will have (a bit) more info before the Sebring test.

A major restaurant chain has expressed interest in the title sponsorship of the Euro races.

Hang on to your faux concern hollyhocks

And you may as well begin worrying about Greece in '08
