The SpeCTator should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Great to see the HSCC opening at Castle Combe, the Autumn Classic has been an excellent meeting, well supported at a friendly circuit that produces great racing.
So, are we going to see big grids at the season opener?
I guess circuit restrictions may limit places for some of the larger capacity cars compared to say Formula Ford.
Also I understand testing is on the Thursday, so a bit of time for fettling on the Friday before it all kicks off on Saturday.
Either way it looks like a great start to the HSCC season!

Histeric Formula Fords will guarantee you some good sport Mr SpeCTator even if there is only half a dozen of us...except we already have 10 more than the grid numbers so there may be two doses of our little series there! Hope that's OK?

Looking forward to the great atmosphere and spectator numbers only Castle Combe create.

That's the plan, but with a workaday engine just to get me out. All will be sorted for Silverstone in May.

Won't be a problem as the first time I sit in the car will be for qualifying, so there will be no heroics!

We hope to have her running tomorrow. Only problem is the driver went of with the seat a few months ago and we have not seen it since.

Looking forward to Castle Combe on the Saturday - my first visit to the circuit.
Hope to see 10/10 members in action in a great day's racing.

Is there a possibility to park trackside to watch the event?
This would be appreciated by Mrs. S. , especially if there is inclement weather.

Head to the Tower corner parking, it's banked and you can watch from the car. You can also usually park trackside at Westway and the Chippenham Road.
The Tower parking is popular so fills up early.

Looking good, an excellent entry for most events.
Along with the CC regular championships, the paddock is going to VERY crowded.
Cant wait!

For those who weren't aware...

TV coverage for HSCC Castle Combe

The Historic Sports Car Club’s 50th anniversary race meeting at Castle Combe this weekend (16/17 April) will be filmed for a dedicated hour-long programme on Motors TV.

To mark a very special occasion in the history of the HSCC, SSTV will film the race action and 50th anniversary celebrations and produce a magazine-style programme, which will be broadcast on Saturday 21 May at 8.30pm. The programme is likely to have several repeats and will also be available for viewing on-line via YouTube and the HSCC’s social media platforms.

As well as taking a look at some of the racing categories, the programme will feature the 50th anniversary grid re-creation as some of the drivers and cars that contested the inaugural Griffiths Formula race in 1966 return to Castle Combe.

The programme will take a look at some of the characters and cars racing with the HSCC and will aim to capture the ethos and spirit of HSCC racing. The team behind SSTV, headed by Wayne Goldring, is renowned for its work in rallying and will now bring those skills and expertise to historic racing. The commentator for the race action will be Ian Titchmarsh.

“We’re very excited at the prospect of having the Castle Combe weekend filmed and broadcast on TV,” said HSCC Chief Executive Officer Grahame White. “We hope to do more TV later in the season to mark the club’s 50th year.”

If this pilot broadcast goes well, there are plans to televise some other meetings, possibly the Superprix, Croft and the Gold Cup.

Good luck to all tenthers, try to stay warm and dry. Looks like you're better served by the weather gods than the midlands and north. (But below freezing tonight.... !)

Looks like they have some new software this year and it's not working.

Technical issues I would guess. No error messages that I can see so difficult to suggest anything.

Are you using a "mobile device" or a PC?

I've just checked the feed on my Android device and it seems to be displaying a messed up version of the new look software with the race title "HSCC Closed Wheel Race" . I assume that means it is still shoving out something from the Walter Hayes meeting last year? Looks like a qualifying session.

That's using Chrome as the browser.

Not sure whether that is a better result than a blank screen using Firefox on the PC.

Disappointing.

It's working OK for me on TSL, but not on HSCC MST.

Well spotted.

I can't imagine they have both timing companies in attendance so it must be TSL for this one.

That would explain the lack of feed on MST.
