Kansas: Banquet 400 & Yellow Transportation 300
This weekend sees the Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup shuffle along to Kansas Speedway.
Kevin Harvick's race win streak was 'finally' ended last time out at Dover and it seems we have an intriguing Chase on our hands. Jeff Burton leads the standings, after securing his first win in three million years last week, from Jeff Gordon who lies just six points behind. Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson, in seventh and eigth respectively have some work to do to get back up there, but it is not an irretrievable situation! We can pretty much count Kasey Kahne and Kyle Busch out at this early stage, sadly. Anyhow, roll on the racing! |

Kudos to Kahne for getting the pole at Kansas after the dissapointing and unavoidable accident last week.

Saw the last 20 laps...kinda boring, Kyle and Tony Stewart got Bowyer on the line for 3rd. Was funny explaining that Andretti made a rookie mistake, but he is a rookie, but he's not a rookie :P

When I first heard of the Busch series I was wondering why they would name a series after a Bush? at the time I hadn't actually seen a Busch race or heard of the Beer...

Great 'luck' by Stewart, well, I caught the last laps so I asume strategy helped a bit but he was still very lucky.
I was hoping that Martin would overtake Stewart and Mears for the win, but he'll have to stick with 3rd. Burton extends his points lead, ominous! |

Wow, not a bad race
Bowyer was doing well, I was hoping he would win, but even with the damaged car he finished 9th! I think he may win a race before the end of the season, he's coming good. Even with Hamlin's 18th place he still moved up 2 spots into second in the chase, what a weird day, at one stage the 10 chase cars were within about 150 points of each other during the race. and it was the first time in ages I'd heard Dale Jr say his car was good haha |

I'm going to say that Johnson, Kahne, and Busch are out of the hunt for the title. It would take a miracle for any of them to make it. Also only once since Kansas was added has the driver leading the points afterwards failed to win the championship. Here's hoping that bodes well for Burton...
