MN v AA Bathurst
Reminded myself why I dont regularly buy AA by buying both to compare Bathurst issues today. AA - pathetic. Paper thin in content, with just a few pages of actual Bathurst coverage. Most of magazine looks like its prinyed last week, not even a lreader letter about Bathurst. MN - don't miss it. Huge coverage with input from Moffat and John Goss, nice touch. Many letters about Bathurst, most seem to think the big crash was Murpys fault.
Also (seperate thread?) reports that Balaclavagate was started by a team dobbing SBR in to an AVESCO official in pit lane! Now who would that be? |

I'm not about to get into a debate as to whether MSN is better than AA or vice versa.
What I can tell you that AA signs off half of the mag; Rev Limiter / Foges, letter page and features / interviews on Friday. The race reports and news get signed off on Monday. This is how the ACP production schedules work. I'm sure there will be plenty of Murph vs Ambrose and balaclavagate letters in next week's AA. |

That is half AA's problem though - instead of trying to bring you current news, letters etc they are, in reality, nearly a week old.
But that isn't AA's only problem - Jon Evans will tell you (if you ask him nicely and quietly) how restricted he is these days in how many words he is allowed to submit and get printed. AA used to be a damn good source of information, well written and well researched articles. These days it is all about 'wham, bam - thank you writer'. |

Did you notice in last week's AA preview that Mr Owen and Mr White were driving the #25 Birtek car

I thought the MN edition today was fantastic. took me the best part of an hour to read.
AA took me around 20 minutes... |

I buy AA to compare what they got WRONG with the stories Vs MN.
Classic today is the AA Page 6 article by Oatley (how was lunch in the HSV Corporate facility SO?) " 'Stupid' Rivals Cost HSV". AA actually printed this PR Team Spin whereas MN print facts, observations and educated comment (refer Lambden page 49 "Amature hour?" "What was Garth Tander thinking?" Pre printed deadlines for AA ..........baloney!!!! Come on Branagan - go weekly and bury the pretenders!!!!!!!!!!! |

Agree pete55, but one possible down-side. Maybe MN would end up like AA if it was weekly ie struggling for intelligent content. I preferred it the way it used to be when both were fortnightly, on alternate weeks. How about itAA, you might get this reader back if you did. Not prepared to pay $5 a week for rubbish, cant believe many others will continue to either after this weeks pathetic effort.

MNews certainly did a great job with their Bathurst issue. Will keep me happy until Santa brings me my Chevron copy of The Great Race...
BTW would like to have seen messrs Brede, Cleland and Branagan up on the mountain on Saturday! I spoke to Mr Cleland during the pitwalk on Saturday afternoon and got him to sign a poster. He asked who to make it out to and I said Jason Plato..."Well that's not going to be happenin'" he laughed in the great Scottish accent... |

Not to do with Bathurst, but if you believe AA's "Round The World" section, Matt Neal and Team Dynamics are the first privateer team to ever with the BTCC
Anyone else notice also that they blatantly gave away the identity of the Reverand Limiter in the preview edition........ |
