2013 AMA Supercross / Motocross...
Just watched my 1st AMA Supercross event "live" & it was feckin ace! As a series it has to be right up there with the best on the planet - Davi Millsaps won on the Suzuki from Trey Canard's Honda & Ryan Dungey's KTM, Chad Reed was of the pace a little, but rode smart to bag 4th in his comeback ride... Millsaps led for about 90% of the race with Canard & Barcia (Honda) right behind, Canard (also in his comeback race) took the lead 2 laps from the end & it looked like he had the win then Millsaps found something & got the lead back to take the win
Ryan Villopoto had a poor start & it all went haywire for him, running of the track mid-pack & then crashing whilst challenging James Stewart - Villopoto was 16th & Stewart struggled to a top 10 finish after hurting his knee in practice... 450SX Points... David Millsaps - 25 Trey Canard - 22 Ryan Dungey - 20 Chad Reed - 18 Jake Weimer - 16 Andrew Short - 15 Justin Barcia - 14 James Stewart - 13 Justin Brayton - 12 Kevin Windham - 11 Eli Tomac smashed them in the 250 class, Ken Roczen was 2nd... 250SX Points... Eli Tomac - 25 Ken Roczen - 22 Cole Seely - 20 Jason Anderson - 18 Malcolm Stewart - 16 |

Justin Barcia wins in Phoenix, taking his 1st victory in only his 2nd start in the 450SX class - Villopoto was 2nd with Millsaps 3rd... Barcia blitzed the opposition, leading by as much as 10 seconds at one stage!
450SX Points after 2 of 17... David Millsaps - 45 Justin Barcia - 39 Trey Canard - 38 Chad Reed - 36 Ryan Dungey - 33 Jake Weimer - 31 Andrew Short - 27 James Stewart - 27 Ryan Villopoto - 27 Eli Tomac wins again from Ken Roczen... 250SX Points (West) after 2 of 9... Eli Tomac - 50 Ken Roczen - 44 Cole Seely - 38 Zach Osborne - 29 Ryan Sipes - 29 |

OK I havent seen any of these so far
But last year Milsaps was average, Villopoto was pretty much dominant, even when Reed, Stewart and Dungey were there. Milsaps must be main man for Yamaha? Is he getting better bikes, or ishe just beter this year? |

Millsaps is on the Rockstar Suzuki now, Stewart the Yoshi Suzuki - Villopoto is dominant when out front, but has made a few bad starts plus the odd crash is holding him back, he should win the title tho if he pulls it all together... Stewart has knee damage (ACL) & is riding ok, Reed keeps making costly mistakes & Dungey is his usual consistent self on the KTM... Barcia is fast, but in his "rookie" year - as for Millsaps, no-one expected this, he is consistently up the front & out of trouble. Most expect his bubble to burst sooner, rather than later!
AMA Supercross really is a great series if you like this sort of racing, some great names on great bikes - i really enjoy it! |

Its great out front, but some of the guys out there are so slow!! But maybe thats not a suprise, its the same in most motocross, you usually have a few aliens and the rest are a lol, lot slower!
I dont get the chance to watch it much, but do enjoy it, prefer outdoor stuff really, but again its hard to get coverage. |

When I was a kid, there was only one ESPN channel here in Hispanic America, and I often watched AMA motocross and supercross. Now there's three ESPN channels and three Fox Sports channels, but I'm not sure of Fox Sports 3 has any of them. Anyway, I only have two ESPN feeds and one Fox Sports feed.

I used to follow this series but cant get it on my TV now.
Why has James Stewart lost his edge, or has everybody else just upped their game ? |

Stewart has moved to Suzuki and is struggling to get it right every week.
he won a round a few weeks ago, but was nowhere at Daytona. Villopoto is the man right now, easily the quickest now his bike is better, Millsaps was pathetic at Daytona, maybe 10th! Conversely there are some young kids out there looking good, namely Barcia and Tomas whathis afce on the Honda's!! |

Millsaps was sick or injured i think they said - but that dont matter, Villopoto has it in the bag if he stays upright for the rest of the season...

Well i hope not, but he is the class of the field by a bit - saying that, he could fall & break a leg next week... So, we wait a little longer til the fat lady starts singing!

He is riding like Stewart and the GOAT did when they were at this level.
Bubba will ger there, just needs the bike to be closer, it seems up and down each week, and RVP is not infallible, early season he was struggling. But when he is on it at the moment there is noone close other than Stewart and even then you always know who is gonna win really |

Watched a really interesting feature on RV last night, he practically dosowned his family for a few years until the end of last year to make it so that he was able to start winning.
Typical story, parents gave up everything for thier kid, he starts getting good, then gets factory suport, he grows up doesnt want sister to be a paddock bike so pushes her out, then realises Dad ain't gona be good enough as a mentor so kicks him out too! Think they are all fine now Best bit for me was that his main rival as a kid was Mike Alessi who he now kicks every week, I don't like ALessi, he always starts well then fades, just totally unfit it seems even though he has the speed. But RV fair play, the dedication, he hates training! Uses GOATS and Stewarts old trainer! And now he is reaping the rewards, and after some serious injuries!! |

fair play to Davy, he was leading forhalf the race, but RVP was just fitter and better, simple as
But that's the best I have seen Millsaps ride. Stewart was pap again, as were a few others like Barcia, Dungey stalled but was quick, Reed looks unfit |

Millsaps was impressive early on - most aggressive/fast i have seen him ride. He needs to ride like that for the rest of the season now... Funny how Stewart on the same bike is playing 2nd fiddle!
