Edenbridge join BTCC
Edenbridge are set to join the BTCC. After BMW's departure from the ALMS, schnitzer have begun building the 2002 cars, but wouldn't be able to support all the teams. So Edenbridge will run a pair of BMW 320i's in the production class of the BTCC. Ferrier could be line for a seat, however, James Hanson is set to become to second works volvo driver.

This is pretty good news, a well established team entering the BTCC and adding more competition to the Production Class. Be interesting to see Ferrier stepping down though.

Great to see BMW back in the BTCC after a 4 year absents. They were going to enter last year and changed there mind at the last minute. I hope they don't do that this year.

This would be a good name for the BTCC to have around in 2002.

pink69 - i hope Hanson doesn't get the second Volvo seat! It belongs to Swede Jens Edman. He is a rising star and he will be lost to Volvo if they don't sign him. If they sign Hanson its got to be in a 3rd car, cause Edman must race for Volvo.

Autosport definitely reported that following a recent test at Donington, Prodrive were expected to be signing Hanson for the second Volvo

I can't believe that. They must have edman, even if he is in a 3rd car. Otherwise Volvo will have to send him back to Sweden to race ion the 3rd 1999 spec S40.

pink69 wherdid you hear that Edenbridge will not be in the ETCC?
This is a shame. I hope for the sake of the BTCC that they can upgrade to BTC Touring, even though I like ETCC better than BTCC. |

Does anyone else think BMW GB will give them backing for running in Britain?
Maybe BMW GB decided that backing a team in the ETCC would only help the other countries importers, however if it is in UK it'll only lead to selling cars from the UK. |
