Subaru with FOUR works cars in the Deutschland Rallye
Today it was announced that Subaru will enter 2 extra works cars, alongside Makinen and Solberg, in the Deutschland Rallye.
Achim Mortl has signed a deal with the team. This deal makes him the first Austrian to drive a rally in a works car since Sepp Haider drove an Opel works car in the 80's. Mortl will drive the third works Impreza on the Deutschland Rally in late August and will also be a works-nominated driver for the Sanremo Rally in September. Japan’s Toshihiro Arai will also drive an Impreza WRC2002. |

Looks like Germany is a market that Subaru want to get into. Also is Mortl a tarmac specialist?

Mortl has driven for Prodrive’s Subaru Allstars team in the past and has run in the top 10 on World Championship rallies. He is reckoned to be at his best on asphalt.

Uh Oh, another Gilles Panizzi type specialist on Asphalt. Gilles will have competition with Morti.
