For me, Daniel Ricciardo. While Verstappen gets the plaudits, it's Ricciardo who's getting the results. And for that move on Bottas.

Yep, Daniel for me too. That along with Jenson's pass of Alonso was just about all that was worth watching.

Daniel Ricciardo mainly for that overtake and little celebration afterwards.

Nicola Rosberg (did anyone else notice his engineer's slip-of-the-tongue?). She won the race by a good margin and her better-rated team-mate couldn't make much impression on the gap.
My second choice would have been Dan the Man, for the overtake on Bottas. |

Not much stands out, but I picked Nico for getting the start right (when he needed it) and carrying it home.

Have to go Nico, but second would be Daniel for the Bottas pass

Dani Ric for me - that pass showed that he's out there pushing it as hard as he can and not settling nor relying on DRS etc to do it all for him.

I thought Lewis's drive through the field was awesome!
From first to sixth in 700 metres was an achievement worthy of any World Champion. |

Now let me make it plain from the start this is not to criticise any members choice or indeed any driver, however, I find it a bit sad that any one can be voted 'Driver of the Race' on the basis that he overtook someone.
My point is that we are in such a state that what should be routine, ie overtaking, becomes a the stand out moment of a race. Likewise setting fastest lap attracts a number of votes, todays races do not seem to feature great drives anymore, something that sets the crowd on it's feet lap after lap. No! We have to make do with the occasional 'pass' to judge a driver on. Do people overtake more regularly on these Play Station gadgets? Nothing but praise for Ricciardo, and Alonso for making the most of what they had, but still ............! |

however, seeing a move made on the outside of paribolica or seeing a driver set someone up for a pass over multiple corners (particularly when DRS is not enabled) would have merited a 'driver of the race' accolade regardless of the era though no? overall though these moments are few and far between so yeah i guess i kind of agree. there is far less action/wheel to wheel lasting over the course of multiple laps now so the things we attribute as being worthy are in fact rather run of the mill kind of things. |

And we end up giving races top marks just because they're held at great circuits, irrespective of whether the on-track action really merits it.

My vote goes to Rosberg. Didn't put a wheel wrong. Bagged 25 points and two wins in a row.
