freud has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Arrows - Toyota - Minardi - Jaguar - BAR

Its very interesting to compare the performance, both on and off the grid of the 4 backmarker teams...

Arrows Cosworth
Minardi Asiatech
BAR Honda
Toyota
Jaguar

Toyota has made a wonderful start to their f1 journey. I didnt expect them to do as well as they have done so far this season. Minardi did well to get points in the first race of the season. Jaguar & BAR are in a slump.

To me, Arrows Cosworth, have shown a lot of character this season. They were in a prety bad position at the start of the season and have fought to gain the 2 points which the richly deserve. Plus how Tom Walkinshaw has kept calm at time of hardship just amazes me. I wish Arrows Cosworth even better luck in the future.

I voted for Arrows as well. For a team with the second smallest budget in F1, to have outraced Jaguar for most of the year, plus outpacing Jordan and BAR regularly sums up the job Arrows, Cosworth and the drivers are doing - that is, a fantastic job.

Toyota, although in their first season, have also exceeded most peoples expectations but with the amount of money being thrown into the project, did anyone really expect them to fall flat on their face?

BAR have been disappointing but also unlucky.

Jaguar have been abysmal and are ruining the Jaguar name as far as I'm concerned.

Minardi are doing the best job possible with their lack of funds.

Voted for Arrows. They dont even get the developments as fast as Jaguar does. They dont test, well barely. Yet still they are repeatedly quicker, especially HHF.

Before I vote, can somebody tell me what we are voting for?
Which team will survive,
which team will end up on top,
which team deserves the accolades,
which team will go bust,
which team is the most impressive,

WHAT??

I have voted for Jordan, but only upon the assumption they'll be able to continue this form...Arrows so far has been impressive, but it appears the balance of power has begun to shift to Jordan.

Uh... Jordan wasn't a choice.

They're more a perpetual upper-midfield team.

I went with Arrows as well. Making do mostly by eyeballing the aero package, barely testing, and Frentzen's doing a fantastic job.

Valve,

The vote is based on 'which team has been most impressive so far' (appr. midseason now).

DNQ,

As Lee said, I didnt include Jordan in the Poll as I feel that they are a touch above the rest alongwith Sauber and Renault. To be honest I shouldnt have included BAR in the poll. BAR's astronomical budget & performanes in previous years makes it a midfielder team. But I am really ****ed off them this year. I was expecting JV to at least go for podiums this year and so far it has been the worst year for BAR.

BTW, surprisingly, one member of the forum have voted for BAR.

I had to vote for Minardi. They chose the lousiest engine from last year, one that they could beat with that Fondmetal lump, and they are still finishing races consistently. And they must have the smallest budget by far in F1 this year. It would have been nice if they took over the customer Ferrari engine from Prost this year.

BAR is doing awfully at the moment, but they always look as if they'll improve next year (1999, 2000 etc) and now with a revamped design team. But that doesn't count as "so far" does it?

Minardi doesn't have the smallest budget, Arrows has if you believe in what the F1 comics come up with.

Toss-up between Arrows and Toyota for me then.

Impressive vote :

I'd go with the majority vote so far as Arrows had been very impressive eventhough they've only got to test the new engine for a few runs, they are able to get the better of Jaguar. Thumbs up for them!!!

Improvement vote :

Jordan

i'd have to say TOYOTA. considering they only have 3 or 4 peple that have worked in F1 before in their team they have done pretty well.

James Allen stated that fact about 4 people working at Toyota that have worked in F1 before at the Canadian GP so i have taken it with a pinch, sorry a bucket full of salt.

I voted for Toyota. Look at the way they have outpaced BAR-Honda and BAR have been around for how long now? Given the resources of BAT and Reynard combined with the extremely talented JV and F1 history of Honda, BAR should be up front regularly. But essentially they are a F1 joke.

I agree that Arrows has done well and beaten the pants of Jaguar. But Tom Walkinshaw has been around a while and knows how to build and run a winning F1 team. Even with their small budget they should be doing better.

I am quite surprised with the results so far: 33 members of the forum have voted.

Arrows Cosworth 16 47.06%
Jaguar 0 0%
Minardi Asiatech 5 14.71%
Toyota 11 32.35%
BAR Honda 2 5.88%

Toyota is well liked in our forum! And Arrows is also doing well.
