The entry is for the two practise dates is looking pretty good.

there's a Ferrari 250 gt entered saturday.
The usual quality tin-top crowd plus a decent amount of single seaters including ten over 2 litre cars.

Willem has entered his new turbo charged indy car engined beasty but has been having a few problems but should be there.
Similar entry sunday but with 12 big single seaters sunday.

Be there or be square dudes.

Jon,

I think I speak for the entire Hillclimb Community when say, please, please make sure that there are one if not many video cameras taping those runs.

With a soundtrack suitably enhanced with a kazoo, that should make entertaining viewing

Think we need some "Smart" comments at the briefing on Saturday Morning.

This is Jon Goodwin's entry, who looks to be running a 355 on Sunday?!!

Would this be the same chap that stuffed a Ferrari a couple of seasons ago on the Saturday and came back in a different one on Sunday?

I am packed and ready to attend!

Steve

From what i saw on Sunday the times weren't particularly quick, something to ddo with freezing cold intermittent rain. All the usual Gould drivers were there
M Groves, M dean , Simon Durling etc , Chris Merrick was out in his newly painted Metallic green gr55 and Basil Pitt was out in his new GR55C

You didn't miss much apart from hypo thermia

I have already seen photographic evidence of Mr Gazey's efforts!

It looks two sizes too small for the chap!

From what i have heard it is and exact colour match to the jaguar f1 cars of a few years back, well nice!
Also heard the huge amount that Basil Pitt has spent on his new car, am i not the only one that thinks spending those amounts on what is supposed to be grass roots sports is a little daft? especially as it is a 2 ltr as well!
and on the topic of car colours any one happen to notice the dyno-rod flurecent orange roman dfl in the padock hehe!

Bas is very particular about his cars. I think his preference is to have a car that is as well engineered and well presented as he can possibly manage. I think he's just gone for the best possible combination of chassis and engine that his means allow.

In fact, I think he's gone for a quite astute combination given how he wants to use the car. For clubbies in the South West and Midlands, his power to weight should be still enough to mix it with his competition for outright wins, and when he does national rounds, he's got what should be an interesting package to have a good scrap with the rest of his class. Maybe not the most cost effective solution, but I wouldn't call it daft.

If you want to be competitive nowadays sadly you gotta spend that sort of money.

Simon Durling seems to go pretty nicely with that sort of size of lump. And IIRC, the GR51 from which the GR55 is drived was actually designed around Richardson cossie 2.6 lump to begin with. The inner Anorak within me wants to know which lump Bas has got and who's put it together for him, any ideas?

Sorry, my question was poorly worded, it was Bas Pitt's engine I was trying to find out about.

Basil has an NME XB 2.65 presumably to the same spec as Simon.

Simon Durling goes very well in his car, he seems to prefer the smaller engine size.
