What a race!!!! Schumacher takes 52nd
Well, that was one for the ages.
Thank God Burti seems to be okay. Congrats to Fisi for a great race, and Alesi for showing us what guts he has. not a fan of the guy, but congrats to TGF....the ******* guy can drive what the hell is up with montoyas luck  i wake up at 730am to catch the race (sleepy as hell and slightly hungover) whats the deal with the willaims mechanics leaving ralf's car on the jack?? im sure that'll be for some nice conversations in the board room. anyways...im going back to bed |

I'm still jumping for joy for Fisichella. Maybe the Renault is finally coming right. And Fisi alluded to further improvements for Monza. Of course, knowing that he's leaving for the iffy performance of Jordan has to be unnerving, after all the effort he's put into this year.

Exciting race and surely made up for the boring race in Hungery. Not a very good race for Williams as Montoya's bad luck continues and don't even get me started on the Ralf incident I was so amazed that such a thing would happen. Oh well, better luck next time.

Great Race, well besides Schumi winning of course...lol
Thank God Burti is OK, just goes to show that the cars are quite safe. Again Trulli has another DNF, he must be happy to be leaving and going to Benetton and seeing Fishi finish on the podium with his next drive must of made him feel good for next year. Alesi and Ralf made it interesting till the end , another point for Jean Alesi. All in all in was a good race (except for the Burti thing) |

That race must be one of the most bizarre in recent years. Thankfully Burti was okay after that awful crash (and it was excellent to see Irvine helping to move the tyres away from his car), and we didn't have to see too much of TGF during the race.
Whoever was responsible for taking Ralf's car off its jacks (or not, as the case was) had better be in some serious bother...I wasn't aware that the role of the team was to sabotage their own drivers. Good to see Benettons up there (although Button is clearly no good under pressure) because it made a nice change to see someone who doesn't drive for Ferrari or McLaren on the podium. |

As long as there is 1 groove remaining it will be legal. So Fishi's 3rd place is good.

I know, but my fingers are crossed. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of groove left on the fronts in Parc Ferme. |

According to DailyF1.com, he'll be kept in hospital overnight but he'll make a full recovery.
I can see why Minardi fan's nickname for him (Lucky) is so apt. |

So RG, what do you make of Ralf's jack stand being left under the car on the restart?

"Great Race, well besides Schumi winning of course"
I think its a great race too... INCLUDING Schumacher's winning! DC had to thank his lucky stars today for being able to scrap into 2nd when no less than 4 cars tripped over themselves today for him... Rubens...tough luck...poor pit stop calls, a clip of the front wing and having Mika slowing him back a little is all that needs to drop him to 7th before his climb back to the points. He ought to make the best of today... Not worse than HHF...wonderful 4th ended even before the lights go off...darn... i was banking on him to hold up Mika and DC to let Rubens run off into the distance... Its strange that Ferrari mechanics need to help Ralf grab the attention of the Williams people to the fact that his car is left high and dry... But unpredictable race...better than Hungary of course..~ |

He is and always will be a #2 driver and that is a big compliment. How can Micheal help him out when he is always 7th or 8th on the track??? |

Man of the race undoubtedly Fisichella. Very, very good drive. Excellent. Every pitstop I was worried he'd be overtaken by the Mac's easily, but as he wasn't indicated how well on the pace he was. Pretty amazing ride. He didn't drove defensively but instead stuck to his own lines was the biggest (mental) reason for succes I guess. He had DC beautifully covered at La Source but was, unlike the other laps, unhappy at exiting which was probably the reason why DC blasted past. For the rest, amazingly strong performance. I hope he gets to more of this in the remaining races.
His performance was clearly coming from the Michelins too and that makes you wonder if the race could have been as thrilling at the front between the Williams and TGF as it was now behind TGF. Funny that TGF kept pushing till the second pitstops because they didn't know if Fisico was on a one-less strategy. Image of the race definetly the super slo-mo shot of Trulli and Alesi in the Jordans drifting closely behind each other with nice oversteer through Eau Rouge. Really awesome! The others had none of this so the Jordan must have been a handful or they were just having more fun. Also noteworthy were the shots of the laps that Alesi, Rubens and Ralf were closely packed. Alesi steering in late, using maximum width and all curb so beautifully. Rubens steering in just a bit earlier, using less curb and clean off the edges which is more his style. And Ralf (sorry RG ) but it showed his untidy driving in all its 'finesse'. Alternating too late with way too early, sometimes way too clear, sometimes floating too wide, such a mess. Fights were good though and I really hoped Rubens could be kept behind but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. 1 point is a really cool reward for the team as it must have been shattered a bit by losing Trulli's fifth place into smoke. All in all, as was the qualifying, a pretty nice race, apart from the hold-your-breath-part when 'Lucky' crashed. I really thought it was all over but I am glad to hear he has a change of good recovery. It's hard to tell though as this was such a huge impact he will suffer damage without a doubt. Remember Zanardi's crash who had about the same thing with a faulty suspension crashing almost head-on the Eau Rouge barriers in '92. He was pretty unscatched alltogether, but suffered enough brain damage that he got a growth boost and became 1 inch taller overall and his arms by 1,5 inches. Or Frentzen who suffered from severe tremblings for quite some time. Fingers crossed for Luciano that he'll recover just fine. |

Well done Michael.
Thank God Luciano is ok. If Rubens is so **** how come he's 3rd in the standings and only TGF has had more podiums? Zanardi crashed in 93 and the way senna helped him reminded me a little of what Irvine did today... It shows that drivers do care about their colleagues despite what some people think. |
