Door handles
yes door handles!
I'm looking for an internal door handle I can use to shut the door, im sure some GT/touring cars use a fabric type loop, any idea where I can get one or what I can make one from or any other ideas ? thanks. |

Not ever made them but couldnt you use a piece of webbing like a military style belt and then screw or rivet to the door panel?
Perhaps folding the piece of webbing in half and stitching it 3/4 of the length and then the two end which are not stitched you can rivet to door. Dont know but might work. |

Use your imagination! Failing that, use a cable / zip tie

yes military belt or something similar could work, not sure about a cable tie tho I thought you might be able to buy ones premade ready to rivet in, but non of the catalogues seem to have them.

I think most of them are home made items rather than off the shelf.
There is an even better alternative: Leave the existing door cards in as they dont actually weigh that much compared with having them replaced with something! Just cut any bits out that you need to in order to fit the cage. |

Find an old seatbelt, cut a piece off about 40cm, fold it double, bolt (or rivett) both ends to the door and hey presto: your doorhandle.

Hi, I've already removed the door cards and all the mouting pegs, I will probably replace them with a thin sheet of aluminium. Like the seat belt idea.
cheers |

MG Midget door pulls. Couple of self-tappers and they're fixed. May have a couple kicking around PM me.

I'll post a picture tomorrow when I'm back at the office. We have two cars with those belt door handles.

I thought it was about the less desirable driving standards we seem to experience as well !
I have 0.6mm ally door cards, covered in original Cortina vinyl with handles refitted, both doors weigh about 1kg extra ! I also have ultra lightweight rear seats for added authenticity ( about 3kg ) and a 4kg passenger seat . . .you wouldn't want to sit on them though !!! |

Note to self, design some pretty but very lightweight door handles and add them to my list of CNC'ed products that I will be selling shortly.
A bit of market research - How much weight would you tolerate a door handle weighing? |
