pink69 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Why where there so few GT1 privateers?

Today, Gt fields are made up of both works and privateer teams likethe Gulf and champion Audis, but why were there hardly ever any GT1 privateers if any. I know that the format was expensive but there are many LMP 900 prototypes and the FIA Gt championship is made of privateers. Lots of people think that GT1 cars are better tha LMPs so why are there so few?

GT1 cars were never built as customer cars. They were all built by factories for there own uses. They were never sold privately, the exception being a few McLaren's and Porsche's.

The reason why there are so many privately run prototypes is because so many manufacturers build them as customer cars. Lola, Riley & Scott, Dome, even Ferrari built them with the purpose of selling them to private teams. As for the Audi's run by Champion and Johansson, they don't actually own them. Their cars are being loaned to them from Audi, and I would imagine at a rather substantial price too.

The only GT1s I have seen campaigned privately were the Porsche GT1 EVOs run by Champion and they were all crashed but one in the rain at Mosport. Champion subsequently bought the previous years Audis.

I did find out that actor and race fan Paul Newman has purchased the remaining Porsche GT1 EVO. I have no idea what his plans for the car are, but it is not really legal for most series and is probably well past its prime date.
