The track was built in the early 60's shortly after Mosport. It hosted Can Am, Trans Am, F5000 and in 1968 the 2nd Cdn. GP. For a few years it alternated with Mosport for the GP.
It is situated in the Laurentians near Mt. Tremblant which you can see from the paddock. Mt. Tremblant ski resort was once owned by Peter Ryan's family. (Lotus driver killed in a race in France.) It is now the premier ski resort in Eastern Canada. The scenery is beautiful as are the French Cdn. women who can emerge from a pup tent looking like they were on a fashion runway. Good swimming in the lake behind the padddock with a sandy beach or for the brave and very good swimmers in the Riviere Diablo (Devils River) below turn 1. Watch the whirlpool! Excellent food in the area. It is fast and tricky. Almost as tough as Mosport. The Quebcois say the opposite, of course. I have not been there since they made some changes but I believe it has not changed much. Of all the tracks in Quebec we raced at (5) it was my favourite. PS. I was at Mosport on Sun. for the Vintage Festival. Davinia Galicia can still drive an F1 car pretty darn quick! |

Here's what I've got.
Winners: 1967- Mario Andretti (both USAC races) 1968- Mario Andretti (both USAC races) The F1 Canadian GP was held at Mont Tremblant in 1968 and 1970. Here's an onboard lap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aWlxKNjs6A Those first series of right-handers down the hill are VERY fast. Two things I'm wondering about, will CC do a standing start, and is anyone else worried about trying to negotiate the first-turn chicane with a bunched field? |

Gommendy?
On Pole? Isn't he supposed to be too tired and slow? |

I was at the Portland race and on Friday of that event, Gommendy told a reporter (right in front of me) that he'd just learned English a few or so months ago. I hope he wins.
