Anyone else bought it? I got the demo the other day and enjoyed it so much I had to go and buy it.
The graphics are excellent, the tracks well designed, and the car handling gorgeous. Well, it's a topic innit??? |

Yup! Bought it the day it hit the shelves!
I agree, the handling is excellent. But for me, the graphics are the best. In-car, with the light effects through the screen, the 'weight shift' of the driver as the car goes through a turn... it's all great. Other things, like the engine management 'pop' and flames from the exhaust, the rear bumper dragging along the track after one too many collisions (hey, I'm learning the tracks!) the bonnet (hood) even flaps about after a couple of prangs... I've already completed (and won) a novice championship, I'm part way into the intermediate, and it's pretty difficult! But it's great. WAY better than the original CMR. (And I got a free memory card!!) |

I think CMR 2.0 has managed to keep all the good bits from version 1 and add some good new features. After the fiasco of V-Rally 2 and the disappointment of GT-2, I was a bit apprehensive about buying it. I've been pleasantly surprised. The new rallies are good, especially Finland - which is a hoot! The stages feel a bit longer (again good), and the service/repair section is done very well.
The only downside is the loss of identities. I found it a little better when names such as McRae and Auiol, etc. used to be the competitors. I guess licensing got in the way. I'm glad Codemasters didn't neeed to show off by including dozens of pointless cars a la VR-2 and GT-2 I'm going to order their World Touring Cars game. |

Isn't Eriksson in CMR 2.0? He's an actual rally driver, but I also was disappointed by the lack of real names.

I bought it yesterday and it's brilliant. Novice championship not too easy, haven't tried harder ones yet. Arcade looks a laugh, but haven't visited that section either. I'm not too fussed about the drivers names, as long as the gameplay's there, which it is. 10/10

Been there. Drove that. Pants still shaking. Can't wait to win the Lancia. No Audi in this one? Shame. A monster, that Quattro in CMR 1.
