Not sure about the tyres
Have just bought a cadet kart for my 11 yr old son so am learning all about the maintenance of it. He spent last summer at our local track practising but needs to finish off his ARKS. Unfortuanetly, we don't have an all year round track so racing stops btn Oct & March. Anyway, the tyres on the kart are full of "crap", loose rubber etc. Whats the best way to get rid of that, how do I do it without just filing it all off ?

the answer
Carefully with a heat gun and scraper, be careful the bits that become very hot dont set light to any fuel or lubricants in the garage though!! do it outdoors

Yup thats the best way Ive found. However Ive always wondered if all that heat will affect the tyre?
Another way is to use a really sharp wooden plane..with a bit of soapy water on the tyre. The excess rubber comes clean off leaving a similar result to the method above. |

ive always seen the cadet dads scraping off the surface layer of the tyre. but i was just wondering why its only in cadets this happens, and does it really make any difference once your out on the track, surely the tyres clean up after a lap or so?
