I was just browsing the CART site and went and had a look at the drivers that are lined up for the season..nice looking list ..but then I noticed the engines...there are 3 cars listed as using Ilmor engines for 2001.
Team PRG with Luiz Garcia Jnr and Michael Krumm and also an entry for Max Wilson in the Arciero team.. whats that all about..Ilmor is basically Mercedes and announced they wouldnt supply engines for 2001..but yet three cars will ise there power plant for the up coming season... is it that Ilmor have just taken over the Mercedes engines and are developing them for themselves..just like mechacrome with renault in F1??? anybody know |

I've seen them badged as "Pheonix Ilmors". Does this mean that the engine will rise from the ashes and start winning races again??

Mercedes deal with Ilmor was a name on a valve cover. Ilmor will continue to supply engines to CART and has now begun doing engine preparation for a few IRL teams as well.
