Bentley Dream Team
It was reported in one of the UK national newspapers yesterday(Sunday Express I believe), that Bentley are putting Johnny Herbert, Alan McNish and Eddie Irvine in one car, subject to signature's.
If this happens it would be a good move on Bentley's side, two very good sportscar drivers and one big mouthed formula one boy who people like(Eddie that is). This will draw even more attention to Bentley, not only from the sportscar fan, but from all the F1 Eddie fans who are getting a bit off with F1. |

Your expression egor, but not my dream team. 2/3rds of it is OK, Wallace should have been retained. Bentley wouldn't have needed Irvine then.

RD if this goes ahead, which it may not yet, it's I think only a pipe dream in someones eye's, after all you can't believe everything you read in the papers can you!
But as you said why Eddie there are much better sportscar drivers out there who have a proven track record, where as Eddie has been an also ran in F1 for the last few years. In Eddie's defence he was quick in the Toyota at Le Mans, but that was a few years ago. We shall have to wait and see what happens next. |

Irvine is not good for the team.
After the preliminaries he'll speak to the press and say, "The car is s***, tyres are useless, the team doesn't revolve enough around me, and the cars here have a long way to go to be as good as F1" |

That team would attract attention away from the other winning Bentley
Unfortunatly I think Wallace is out of the frame (?). Which ex-Audi drivers will they get (if any). And who goes to the Audi UK entry? I think that these might be sorted before the 'British' seats are filled (although Herbert and McNish have Audi links). |

Bentley has Audi links, Audi put Herbert and McNish in the Bentley, probably along side Brundle (for an all British team), then whoeverelse in the other car.
When the Brit car wins, Herbert and McNIsh will be ready for a renewed Audi assault in 04 |

i think you'd find that brundle would make sure he was released if there was a serious drive for him.

You have to remember that ultimately all manufacturers are in it for publicity and prestige to help them sell cars. On that basis Irvine to be a very good choice. It would also be nice for people to see how much faster Alan McNish is than a fairly high profile F1 driver

I think Guy Smith would be a good choice for a 3rd driver next to McNish and Herbert. No offence to Andy Wallace. That would be one seriously fast car then...
I assume Audi is retaining the services of their core drivers for 2004, lending them out to privateer Audi R8 teams in 2003. Privateers such as Joest. |

This year represents Bentley's best chance of victory. if Brundle wants to add to his LM tally, this would be the year. This is a serious drive, I just hope he takes it up!

Oh, well, stupid question I'm asking, the 04' specs will change a lot of things... BTW, any chance to adapt 03' cars to 04' specs ? It's still difficult to start to have a clear view of what we've gotta have in 2004... anybody to start a 'hot topic' for 2004 ? Or is it really too early ? (Well, even 03 is not so clear !)...
