Roberts....

.... is out of Catalunya. He's not recovered from injuries sustained last week.

Schwantz is present at the track in a "publicity" role. Go on Suzuki, let hime ride!

Doesn't Suzuki have a replacement/reserve rider?

Man, Roberts can't catch a break. Those Suzukis can't keep up with the Ducatis and Hondas.

Shame that he's injured, but he won't really be missed on the grid anyway. It will probably be quieter due to the lack of complaining!

Anyways I think he should retire or get another ride.
He and those nogood suzis are not going anywhere.
Hopper does deserve a better ride too.

Anyone think Roberts may be out by the end of this year? I've read reports that Suzuki are unhappy with his performances of late (such as the past 18 months) while it's obvious Roberts is unhappy at the unimpressive performance of the Suzuki. It's a marriage bound to end in tears sooner or later...

But where would he go? He's an ex-world champion so would no doubt expect big wages. What would any team get for their money?

I suppose he could go back to his dad but you have to feel he's on the way out...

Why would mat mladin give up his ride on the best bike on the ama grid to be stuck at the back of the gp grid?

Frankly I don't think he can ask for much money. When teams invest in riders by paying them lots of money, they expect things in return - results, wins, championships. KJr may have won a championship in 2000, but he's done absolutely nothing since then - no wins, barely a podium.

Of the teams that he could ride for, Honda is a no-go area. I doubt Yamaha would be interested, same goes for Kawasaki. He could go back to daddy, but even he may say no. I think the curtain will close on his MotoGP career. It's basically Suzuki or bust...

Yep, Mladin did a year with Cagiva in 1993. IIRC, the last time he had a run on a 500 was on a Suzuki during one the late-98? test sessions at the Island, but I think it was more of a thank-you for winning the AMA title that a serious trial. I think Mladin may have left it too late to have another shot at MotoGP. It would be great to see him there on a competitive bike, but like wreckless said, why would he give up the situation he's in now to cruise around at the back of the field. Does anyone know if Mladin's a good development rider?

mladin would be good - but as you say WD Jnr, why would he bother .... bring on ama sbk title #4

other ama news

heard earlier on during the week that anthony gobert had quit his ducati team - dont blame him, 4 dnf's in first 5 rounds on a ducati - thought they never broke down.......

as for kenny roberts - you are soft and getting a whipping by young john hopkins doesnt help your ego either give it up kenny.....

I thought it was Austin who dumped Gobert, but either way, he's gone, and Giovanni Bussei takes his place......

If Suzuki were going to give him a go they would have by now. Fact is Suzuki Japan probably likes that Yoshimura Suzuki is pretty dominent in AMA's (save for 2002), but doesn't really rate them.

They wouldn't even give him a go at the World Superbikes, at a time when he was hosing the V-Twins while the Suzuki's were struggling at WSB level.

I always have thought it a shame that in neither of his 3 AMA Championship years he got a go at the Laguna WSB round, we'll see how he goes this year on a very competitive bike (and unlike last year, he is fully motivated).

Kenny Roberts and Jacques Villeneuve, their cariers are almost identical.

Kenny's injuries have ruled him out of Assen - Yukio Kagayama will take his place.
