Official Testing - Donington Park - Tuesday July 22nd 2003
I'd have to say: -
1) Hamilton 2) Rossiter 3) Alex 4) Sisley 5) Conway I think that the pressure must be boiling around conway now and i anticipate that he might have an off in testing as a result of overdriving to beat rossiter and hamilton |

Also i would predict Hamilton 3-4 tenths ahead of the field.

I prophesy that Motaworld will sort out what's wrong with Alex's car and he will top the test. Hamilton 2nd and Rossiter a close 3rd. I also think that Spencer will now be more of a contender, and will regularly be ahead of Sisley and Conway.

Its not an official Renault test day, therefore no times will be available on the day! So who knows who will be the fastest. Also depending on how many Renaults turn up? along with others?

if it's not an offical test day then normal rules don't apply. but renault are saying it is, and charged the teams extra money for renault's mistake...

Bella - You're right, the FR organisers are saying it's an official test day and as far as I know most, if not all, of the teams will be there

The official test has been moved to Friday - a 40 minute session. If it is an offical test why are other cars allowed there then?

uk racing - Friday is 40 minute official free practice (not a test day), with gualifying and race 1 on Saturday and race 2 on Sunday. With regard to Tuesday test day, as I said, I spoke to organisers and they said it was 'official'- don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger!!

the testing
No Tuesday ( 22nd ) is not an official Renault test day, but as most teams will have contract with drivers for a certain ammount of races and test days most teams will attend. It was initially a renault "organised" test day as per the calendar, but organisers Grovewood pulled out and we have been told to contact donington direct to reserve a testing spot on an open day. That said so many are going the R sport are going to provide parts support but I am told Michelin and Atol will not attend.
As usual it is all very confusing |

Jensen - it was Grovewood I spoke to the other day regarding confirmation of the date and they said nothing about pulling out. As you say, all very confusing!!

right, so at least there's going to be an even playing field. no-one's on new tyres, and the fuel's, well, not going to be regulated?
and they're also going to charge you an extra couple of hundred quid for the pleasure of testing with a bunch of other cars for a test day you'd already paid for? hmm. |

or more logically the cost or rebooking the test day after their own stupid mistake...
as for who's fastest, i think it's going to be pretty inconcequential (sp). and it won't mean much either. whoever can get the biggest tow off the inevitable zippy ford thingy testing i'd say will be fastest |

If it's not an official test we won't be able to tell who's fastest as there won't be any times from it. Best we'll have is Jinxx saying "this guy was quick," "rumours were that guy did a 34.2 second lap," just like in pre-season testing.

they booked the test date, then simon north cancelled it (? why i don't know). then instead of realising their mistake and paying for it, they charged the teams extra for a test day that isn't exclusive, won't have timing, and reasonably pointless. it can be argued that this test is actually breaking renault's own rules since it's not an 'official' test , and you can get in all sorts of knots trying to think about it.
