[iV8SC12R22&R23] Armor All Gold Coast 600 - 19-21 Oct
Its nearly time for the Gold Coast 'Indy' event once again...
We have already seen fast Frog Alex Premat hit the showers before being allowed on the playing pitch... ... who will take up the running to play? Hard to bet against an 888 v's FPR showdown... maybe ol' #66 could play well here (was good in an SBR car here some years ago..) Lets see what's going to happen here... |

Given Sebs performance last year I reckon Car 1 is a shoe in.

The guest list is impressive. But I'd like to see more under 30s.

yep, also Turner went well from memory. Power and Salo are pretty handy also, so that's 1, 5, 6, and 66 for me (assuming Ingall qualifies it well) - Hardly surprising those picks are they?
SvG went well last year, will be interesting to see how Jeroen goes also, might get it up there. Pleased to see there is no Happy Jack on that list. |

Was Mr Priaulx otherwise engaged this year?
I recall he went ok last year, and is familiar with the equipment. |

The element of this race that I enjoy is some of the inspired, and intelligent choices that teams make.
Some are obvious - Bourdais, Briscoe, Brabham, Lyons - others are less so. It's interesting to look at the backgrounds and evaluate which ones might or might not adapt to the cars well. Pagenaud has a similar background to Bourdais, with a mix of high-level sportscars and open wheelers, as does Sarrazin - who also has some rally history, and should be strong with Bright if the car's working (which it wasn't last year). Bleekemolen is an inspired choice. I've been a big fan of Montagny - it's a crime he hasn't had a regular gig somewhere over the past couple of years. If he was in one of the better KR cars, he might impress - but he doesn't have a famous surname. Minassian should be strong too (BJR has clearly decided sportscar racers are the way to go), Mad Max, Lieb, Kox... A guy that's had strong results across a range of different race cars is probably the way to go - but the cars are so unique that there's no real way of knowing. A big pile up at Turn 1 can always kybosh it all anyway, so it's probably more about luck than anything. |

I wonder if Helio could be parachuted in, now that he's been kicked off Dancing With The Stars in the US...

Unfortunately, it looks like Whincup's race to lose. The Lowndes and Lyons combination will definitely be fighting for the podium as well. I can see David Reynolds and Nick Heidfeld being up near the front, as well as Shane and Jeroen. Jeroen's enormous in similarly-handling Mercedes GT cars will pay big dividends to their chances. Don't count out the two FPR guys, either. Power and Salo are great shoes.
Overall, I think we'll see Whincup and Shane battling for the win (as we saw back in this same race in 2010). I say Davison/Salo will have the upper hand on Frosty/Power. |

I will take a box trifecta with 1, 9 & 5 and a win straight up for total carnage.

I would to see this race taken off the Championship round for points (if it isnt already) one mistake in this track for a championship getting team is all it takes to be out of it. and swap it for the Melbourne one.

Its the only way to peg Whincup back down, leave it as a points race! (and leave a few laxative-laced baguettes lying around the 888 pit) |

i dont mind it being a points race, just anotehr option that occurs
and while i am sure it might happen one day, it has never occurred yet (where the co driver has cost the championship) oh wait in 2006 GT's co-driver probably cost GT the championship |

My tip is also #1 although I think Davison/Salo will go well too. Will be interested to see how Jamie Campbell Walter goes with David Wall, the big heavy GT cars such as the Lister and the Nissan GT-R that he has driven in his career might give him some insight into what to expect. |
