Never thought I'd say this, but well done Marcos. Great drive and he was so stoked! It was awesome to see an Aussie doing victory burnouts. Why oh why don't the race winners in Supercars do that? Lets hope he can have a great race from last tomorrow.. |

So wait, am I allowed to post a topic like this if an American wins a race?
Congrats to Marcos, glad to see him finally win a race. |

US sportsmen dont have a good reputation internationally because they dont travel. Golf is a good example. I love NASCAR & cant wait until we get our act together again locally - come on down Matt. |

Great victory for him
Next time please no race winner in the topic title. There was already a race topic for the Watkins Glen race. |

A fantastic drive by Marcos , all that hard work is now starting to pay off, this is great for NASCAR down under - took a bit of luck but thats what you need to get to the finish line first

and if anyone thinks they are going to just pop over to the US and "have a go" they are going to be in for a real shock. What Marcos has done for someone without an oval background is astonishing. To have a full time drive in the Sprint Cup after just 3 years on ovals is a great effort. Alot of people here (Oz) I don't think realize just how big Nascar is - one of the papers today had a headline saying "at long last" or something like that. They put up a list of foreign winners on ESPN today - along with a few Canadians the only others were Mario Andretti (Italy), Montoya and Ambrose. |

Its very difficult for an OS driver to win an oval race in NASCAR, the supercar driver would do well in a RC but they still need a good car and time in the car. Most of the races are run in ovals which would be very difficult for a rookie. In saying that a supercar driver would fare better than any open wheeler (non oval ) racers.

Marcos was a V8 Supercar Champion in Australia - dont think an Australian driver who has achieved nothing is going to head straight for NASCAR (unless daddy is rich ) .... most Australian drivers would still head for the Open Wheel categories i would think!

gomick -i read somewhere every driver that wants to enter any of the top 3 nascar series need to be allowed to race in the series by nascar even montoya ,franchitti and hornish got checked out you cant just be a rich boy with no skill and expect to end up anywhere near nascar.

that is very true, was probably a wrong term i used at the early stage of nascar entry - was more meaning if a driver was to stay there when sponsorship runs out...
