BAR in sandy hot water
BAR have got themselves into a tiny bit of trouble.
http://f1.racing-live.com/en/headlin...23123029.shtml A bag of sand included in a press pack. Errrr... why? I know the Bahrain track is built in a desert, but again, errrrr.... why? I'm sorry, but I can't help but see the funny side. |

strange, i though sand would've got through the system OK, but i guess they might be a bit on edge about now.

I can understand food items but sand was there a need? I can understand customs being careful but perhaps the world has gone over protective. Did this just happen for one guy or where all the 'packages' destroyed!? Remembering 'the only thing we should fear is fear itself' and keep everything in proportion. I wonder if I should of quarintined after my holiday after all I did sit on the beach to pass time before my airplane was scheduled!
I'd love to have a go at the new reporter for no sense of humour but I've not read his full article so I will not as I know things can often be taken out of context. In the end it was a fun and original idea by BAR that went a bit wrong. |

Australia has always been very fussy about this kind of thing. Not exactly sure why, but they've always been more fussy than other countries about bringing in "things". Maybe because it was an isolated continent for such a long time and wanting to protect that?

I know going to the US and comming back to Canada they make you fill out a sheet with something like four questions:
1. Are you now or have you ever been a terrorist? 2. Do you have SARS? 3. Do you have any weapons or drugs in your bag? 4. Have you brought back any forign soil or plants with you? I believe the idea is that something could be in the soil that could get into an environment that could not handle it. Think dutch elm disease (there use to be elms all over the place now there are virtually none), etc. The Ausi rabbit comarison is a good one. I've always wondered why the rabbit population exploded there. Wolves and foxes are suppose to keep the population in check where I live, but there aren't any of those preditors around. I thought Austraila had lots of dingos? Are they too busy eating babies? (sorry) |
