Insurance
I'm sure this topic must have been discussed before but couldn't find anything. I race in a 'road standard' championship and would like to use my car on the road as well. As soon as I mention the words 'roll cage' or 'race car' most insurance companies refuse to even quote.
All I'm after is simple third party fire and theft cover that will allow me to drive to and from local circuits for track days, run the engine in after rebuilding, or just enjoy my car rather than leave it in the garage gathering dust between races. I don't want track/event cover. Anybody know of insurance companies that may help? |

Martin,
Who've you tried so far? I know Chris used to be with CCI but they wanted something ridiculous to continue the policy. Have you picked up any of the Mini mags and checked out the insurance companies advertised? |

Hi Maisie, long time no see.
I was with Competition Car Insurance and will try them again but last year they were the only ones that would quote. I was hoping there may be others out there so that I could at least compare prices. Do you know how much Chris is paying and what cover he gets. My last cover with CCI only provided up to 500 miles road use. Last year I tried Graham Sykes as well and they didn't want to know. |

Chris gave up after finding CCI were wanting too much - Voggie's not insured at the mo, which is a pity because I really enjoy the odd blat around Manchester
If you look up "performance car insurance" on the web, you'll pick up a few sites that specialise that way too. You've got to shop around, basically! |

Any mileage in asking the rally forum?
Competitors have to be road legal (to a point - can't imagine anti-lag meeting emissions & noise tests! ) and - presumably - insured, to get from one special stage to another... |

I think CCI were after around £400 for my car for a year, which isn't astronomical, but much more than I can afford, or want to pay!
That was fully comp though, with an annual allowance of some 5,000 miles. Car was declared as living in a garage all the time. Fair play to CCI, they know what a Mighty Mini is anyway |
