Wet & Cold weather kit, snacks/drinks for on post, alarm clock.
Sleeping bag, etc. I'm sure if I've missed anything someone will add it. Its like a normal meeting just longer and without a full nights sleep between the days. |

a good sense of humour is essential.
I did the 24hr 2cv at Snett this year and boy does it get lonely during the night shifts. |

All I'd say is the same "I need everything" attitude to a regular meeting, and all of the above!

I've worked with one of the teams in the 2CV 24 hours a few years ago. We made sure there were plenty of drinks and good energy food available (pasta, etc). Obviously pasta isn't easy while on post, but the basic guide is a good amount of energy food and drink (tea and coffee can be good as they both have caffeine).

Beer, lots of it - for the nights prior to the race of course. Keep one can for the Sunday after race - you are flat on your back with it due to lack of sleep.
Wigs, sillier and bigger the better A member of your team to act as the "gimp" and wear the wigs!!!! Tent pegs x 2 - for adapting your phones car charger to run off the yellow light battery once the night session is over!!!! Seeing is believing with this one. Traditional country dress to show the visitors, the Dutch now know what a true Scotsman is. Spontanious with a sense of humour - ie, being able to call spin and continues on the radio in a bingo caller fashion. Ok the serious stuff now - Sense of humour, team spirit, and the ability to be flexible in what you do - this is why this is such a good meeting as everyone mucks in. The ability to recognise when the organisers go the extra mile to look after you - free bar last year, loads of meal vouchers, meal bags on post, pies on post, huge raffle, goody bags. Travel rug & seat, just in case of 5 hr safety car period. 3m x 3m tarpaulins & cable ties - to enclose the sides of the provided gazebo, a godsend last year when the dew came down Sunglasses are a must - try flagging nightime at Luffield with out them, its like getting arc eye after a few hours. A variety of clothing, we got sunburnt during the day last year but it was freezing during the night. Spare overalls - just in case of monsoon conditions, my ones are just about dry now from 2005. Bikes - very handy for getting around, best thing we took last year. Big torch, for moving around. And checking the track for oil at 2am!!! For flaggies - arms like popeye, blue & white flags galore in daylight. Top tip - Gaffer tape, for sticking the top of the SC board to the hazard board so you just swing it out when needed to avoid your arms falling off. Flipping it over should you need the other one!. Cable ties, to allow you to put the light where you want it rather than where it happens to fit. A good lawyer, if you intend to do back to back weekends for the LMES - handy when the divorce papers come in on your return. A calander, to count down the weeks - only 10 weeks to go. |

Light wire, also known as electro luminencence wire... Basically it's like neon - but much more flexible, and runs off 4 AA batteries. we use it in "the business" for... well looking cool, really.
Now. a length of white light wire, tack it around the SC on the board and hey presto, Light up SC board. ... I'll get my coat. |

Glo sticks and those flashing light thingies that you get from garages could be cool.

Our Scottish pals hit every thing on the button. If your feeling tired or a bit hacked off then 10 minutes with the Tartan Army is better than any red bull etc!
The best thing you can bring to the 24 hours is....................some more marshals! See you all there on the Friday. p.s. James Tucker knows how to treat marshals. Top guy |
