Any photos of the ASTC Diet Coke BMW?

I've been googling the net and only found a few shots from long distance of the Diet Coke 318i BMWs that raced in the Australian Super Touring Circuit in the early to mid 1990s.
Anyone have any links to some photos of this car?

What about the crown casino BMW does anyone have some photos of it? I think it only had two runs as Llyod Williams had a toe in the water execrise.

This paint job could make it into the Worst Paint Job thread, how is it possible to the excellent Diet Coke livery into this horror.

Those are very gay looking cars-not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well someone's got to do it.....may I suggest you have a look at the thread "ASTC 02", 4 years and 2600 odd posts, there's got to be some pics in there.

It's actually about time someone posts something into that thread and gets it back up to the top of the pile again

Wasn't 1993 the last year of genuine Group A cars? If so why the "*******ised"?

1992 was the last year of 'official Group A' (though with alot of DTM-style parity adjustments)

In 1993 CAMS choked the works BMWs so they wouldn't be competitive against the 'new V8s' to keep Holden & Ford happy, hence the "*******ised" term i presume

Didn't Group A end in Australia at the end of 1990?

From 1991 onwards CAMS made parity adjustments to rules (eg extra weight, turbo pop-off valves), approved non-homologated cars to race (eg VN Commodore), gave freedoms to existing cars (eg 6 speed gearbox for the Sierra).

Any resemblance to Group A from 1991 onwards was purely co-incidental.

Actually you could go further and say 'FIA rulebook' Group A ceased after 1989, as in 1990 CAMS gave the Sierra's some weight to slow them down.....

Then again the DTM had their 'one-class' rules from 1984-1992 (parity formula to effectively keeps the likes of the BMW's & Merc 190s competitive with the Sierra's & the Audi V8s), and they still called it Group A....maybe we'll just say Group A based.....

Of course the smart thinkers at CAMS & TEGA were still calling the 'new-for-1993 V8s' Group A as late as 1996!!

Was the DTM under Group A or other rules R69. I thought that Group A went after 92 in Australia which included the V8s.

DTM ran Group A-based rules from 1984-1992, though as a one-class formula. They used pairty adjustments to peg back the Sierra's & Audi V8s so the smaller Mercedes 190s & BMWs would be competitive. Ford ended up withdrawing after 1989 through bewilderment....

In 1993 they went to a new formula just like us.

Group A did run until 1992 in Australia, but the last 2/3 years we had parity handicapping like in the DTM, which meant it wasn't 'true' Group A rules.

The last bit of my previous post refers to the fact that what we now know as V8Supercars were still called Group A by CAMS, TEGA etc.... until the end of 1996...

They were called Group 3A (or A3....i forget) international but Australian Group A.

The VN and VP/EB were constructed to some homologation rules I thought, until they let the Chev motor and yank 5L in...

Then we spiralled away from production motors and compononents and eventually to a control floor plan..... fun fun!
