FF Kent block
I have been told the original English Kent engine block for Formula Ford is the better block to have rather than the South African as it is lighter and has better tolerances but can any one tell me how to spot the differance, I believe they all have "711M6015BA" cast into them.

Agreed the deal with Neil Fowler's Dad at the WHT. Apparently he has 'loads.' They will need relining but will be a better bet than my last, now colander-like perforated block.

are liners reliable and what sort of cost are you looking at ? I'm having similar problems finding std bore precrossflow blocks . . . .and I have a nice new set of SCA Cosworth forged pistons to use.

As to how much its gonna cost I decided not to ask until it was done! The last bill I got from Scholar for an engine was quite hefty - but it was, I believe, a good motor when all done. Last edited by JohnMiller; 19 Nov 2003 at 14:54. |

It can't have been that good John if you can't even buzz it to 10,000 with it blowing to bits

Different motor - that was a Zetec. This is a second hand Kent I bought (fortuitously) as a spare earlier in the year. Sent it for rebuild - "Err, this is 1650cc mate."

I've got a couple of the older "small cam follower blocks" if they are any use to anybody.

I dont know how strict the FiA are on blocks . . . .but correct homologated Nos on blocks would make things mighty difficult.
Stephen are they precrossflow or crossflow? (Nos on the side usually tell) |
