Tertre Rouge
Just wondering, but what year was it when the Dunlop bridge was taken down at Tertre Rouge? Also, what kind of trees are at the end of Tertre Rouge at the begining of the straight?

I think the bridge was removed 1979 when the curve was modified. Can't help you with the trees though..

Poplar trees... or plane trees ? I'll check next time...
The second Dunlop bridge : I have to check ,but it was still there in 1969, just to mention this year. Karl should be right : 1979... Last edited by Fab; 22 Sep 2003 at 04:55. |

They're still the most "important" trees, historically-speaking, at Le Mans. I say we should start a "Save the Trees" campaign NOW......

The ACO is not going to cut down the famous trees after Tertre Rouge when they change Tertre Rouge after the 2004 race?

The purpose is to save what can be saved... including, I hope, those poplars... but when I see what they did with the esses climb, this is the bold mount now.

It's too bad they don't paint those trees anymore. Back in the day, they used to paint them with white reflective paint so drivers could see where the edge of the road was. This was before they had guard rails up along the Mulsanne.
Hope they don't knock the trees down during construction. That would be a shame. |
