fullSPEED should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sharpie 500

The NASCAR Nextel Cup now moves to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Sharpie 500. The top 5 drivers in the championship - Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth - are pretty much assured of a spot in the “Chase for the Championship”. The last 5 slots are still being hotly contested by 10 drivers which include Kasey Kahne, Jeremy Mayfield, Mark Martin, Ryan Newman, Dale Jarrett and Jamie McMurray.

Always a lot of bump and grind around Bristol.

Newman is a key man to watch, he's on the verge of not making the top ten, which would be a big disappointment given his pre-season hype.

This race should go a long way towards determing the final 10 as anything can happen at Bristol, and usually does.

Another win for Earnhardt, and he becomes the first to sweep Cup & Busch at Bristol.

No changes in the top 9 positions - BUT Newman jumps 3 places to take the 10th spot. It's a tough battle.

Also noteworthy was Jeff Burton's run - seems like being part of RCR suits him.

Yes, but it makes you wonder what's up at Roush that he couldn't get these sorts of results in the 99.

the middle 200 laps were just good racng all those crashes earlier and later
man
any thought on whether or not the smaller than a mile tracks should run the full43 carS?
maybe 35 after all about 10 cars are lost in these races anyway.
i can't believe how strong mcmurray was, only not to keep it up and gordon, that was a good wreck free drive, too bad he faded..
what can you say Dale Earnhardt simply dominated
lapped everyone up to 6th was it
wow

strangebloke should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
That's one of the quietest races I've ever seen at Bristol! A few crashes but nothing compared to last year and no bump and run for the win to finish the day. Still happy though, I'm a Jnr fan.

Jeff Burton's really picked up. Sometimes people just need a change of scene I suppose. I also think Rousch has a few too many teams now, he's been funding Edwards in the truck series and the sponsorless 99, so maybe not all the Cup teams are getting the same amounts of money for their programs? Just a thought.

The race has really tightened up from positions 8 thru 15. Only 50 points separates the 8th position from 15th place.
Harvick may have goofed by running 3 races last weekend and not doing very well in the Cup race.
