Takuma should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Does this end Jenson's hope of returning to Williams

Official BMW press release below.

17 December 2001

Pizzonia to test for BMW WilliamsF1 Team

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team has signed Antonio Pizzonia to be an official test driver for 2002. The 21-year-old Brazilian driver will continue to compete in the FIA International Formula 3000 Championship.

“We know Antonio well as he has already done some testing for us and he is a good choice in addition to Marc Gené, a very experienced driver. The demands for instant feedback from tests is becoming more and more important, so having two test drivers is necessary. Our engineers were very impressed with the work he has done in the past and so we are sure he will be a great asset to the team,” said Team Principal, Frank Williams.

Antonio, who comes from Manaus in the Amazon, and lives in the UK in Cambridge, started his racing career in Karts in his home country in 1991. He won countless Kart championships before turning to single-seater racing in the UK and winning the Vauxhall Junior, Formula Renault and Formula Three Championships. 2001 was his first season in Formula 3000. He achieved one victory, finished sixth in the championship with the Petrobras Junior Team and he will be continuing with them for 2002.

The team’s web site, www.bmw.williamsf1.com, carries his full biography.

I don't see why that should preclude Jenson from returning to Williams.

This in itself won't stop the return of Button in 2003. It all depends on what happens in 2002. How Button goes at Renault?? How JPM and Ralf go at Williams??? Someone else could come along in the meantime and take the seat from Ralf, Pizzonia or Button... or JPM could decide to move on, leaving a seat for one of the others.. Only time will tell.

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing

Like I said, it all depends on whether JPM wants to go to Ferrari in 2003. The musical chairs next year will rotate around JPM.

Realistically, not really sure that that move would happen...

Montoya will NOT race at Ferrari as long as TGF is there. He is smart enough to see that this is a sure way to trash his career, as has happened to every single one of TGF's teammates, with no exceptions, and he has already said that he will NOT race there until TGF retires.

However, I think what Button does this year will address the undeniable fact that he's lucky to be racing ANYWHERE, much less at one of the top teams. If he has another year like 2001, he will not see out this season at Renault (think Jacques, if Pollock gets Briatore's old job) much less "his" seat at Williams.

You seem to forget that Button out drove Ralf on numerous occasions in the 2000 season, and that the Renault was **** last year.

My view is that Button will find a seat (and a good one at that) at Jaguar or Jordan in 2003

Button out-qualified Ralf on numerous occasions, although he only out-drove him once (arguably) - at Suzuka, even though Ralf didn't finish that race.

Ferrari my behind...LOL Why would anyone would like to drive for them having to play slave to Schumacher?

Pizzonia's new testing role puts more presure on little bro than it does on Jenson. That is because Jenson is history already and little bro in his way to be the next casualty of Williams's way of dealing with long term contracts...LOL

Jenson won't be in F1 in 2003.

Or so I hope.

He'll be handing out sweets and gift packages at the Renault hospitality suite -- Jacques will have his seat.

Out-qualifying your teammate counts for precisely zero. You only get points for actual racing.

Ok, Button outqualified Ralf.... but, did he outqualified Fissi?
Bernoldi outqualified Verstappen, Who hasn't the seat for 2002?
PDLR outqualified ERV, Did anything changed at Jaguar for 2002?

Button must focus on performing well on his renault. Nothing else.
The stress is increasing for Ralf
