Castle Combe "Summer" Racing Carnival Aug 8th/9th
http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/...list090809.pdf
Should be a good weekend with the likes of Britcars,Tuscans,Fiestas and Superkarts backing up the local championships Karts in particular are always good value over the 'undulations' of Combe Usual faces there then ? |

Excellent day yesterday on Post 10. Many thanks to all the crew particularly with the handling of the barrier damaging TVR shunt in the morning. I watched it on the Motors TV camera in the afternoon. Wow!

Although I was over the other side of the circuit for this meeting,(post 9 & 11),I think those who worked the Folly/Avon Rise area, deserve a worthy mention, along with the rescue and circuit staff
A rather long and eventful weekend |

Thanks Kate and I were the first marshals to get there (it was right opposite our post), the driver of car 77 (the one that went right up in flames) had jumped out of his car quickly and was straight over to car 9 where the driver seemed to be going in and our of consciousness, we noticed smoke coming from the engine bay of the car so poured in the powder and foam into the engine bay to stop it going up in flames as well. Kate helped the driver and made sure he kept his helmet on and stayed still until the doctors arrived. I then noticed petrol pouring from the back so covered that with foam etc and then everyone else took over really....

Folly Post 2 - Sunday
Excellent and well done to all the team, especially to Kate & Dave. No doubt all the marshals around the circuit could see the flames & smoke coming for the burning TVR after it hit another car which had left it’s oil over the track just in front of us, due to a big engineer blow up. All the drives escape with no serious injuries. http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/...?TOPIC_ID=3631 |

Guys, its my first time on this forum and I came across this thread. Can I thank all of you involved in sorting out the carnage at Follies during the second TVR race. Had it not been for your efficient handling of the situation I am sure things would have been a lot worse, especially for Ben in the grey / black Tuscan.
When I arrived on the scene, very sideways, in the red TVR Tasmin number 24, I was really worried that I was going to stop in the flames from Owens Tuscan #77. Luckily I stopped a few yards short. Also thanks to the young lady who asked if I was OK. Although I was pysically well I was a little traumatised by the whole situation and didn't really know what to do as I had never been in the middle of a situation like that before. By the time I sorted myself out, everything was under control and both driver were out of the cars. Please don't be too hard on the Medic who was screaming for the spinal board. At the time, I could understand his fustration although he was, maybe, a little vocal. His only concern at that point getting Ben onto his back. If it wasn't for the expertese, efficiency and devotion of you guys, our sport would be a lot more dangerous. We simply couldn't do it. Thanks for doing what you do!!!!!!! Best Regards Dave |
