Kerb hopping at Adelaide
Watching the utes bouncing over the kerbs (curb) around the Adelaide street circuit makes me think they need to move the kerbs to improve the flow of the corners. if they are just going to drive over them, why have them there? Or in that shape? eg the turn onto the main straight they should make the kerb curved to flow onto the wall, rather than have it in the middle of the track. Letting the cars drive over it, smashing their suspension and causing cars to spin out doesn't seem like a good way to cut costs or make it safer.

The sight of a heavy V8SC with 4 wheels in the air is actually pretty cool... but its something that isnt great for the cars...
What is the downside to getting rid of the penalties for kerb hopping? Other than they may end up in a wall when things land wrong? |

Is it right that drivers should be allowed to save up their "kerb cheats" at the first chicane for the end of the race?

Hitting those kerbs at the wrong angle puts stress on the car components, suspension, tyres.. and landing position... and other cars... This very same argument happens at the Gold Coast too.. but there seemingly isnt a workable solution? Or is there? |

Here's what the chicane and Kerbs looked like in 1985 when the track was first used

Perhaps moving some walls back would provide enough encouragement not to straightline it?

Back in the F1 days the drivers were allowed to get on with it and race.
Race stewards were rarely heard and rarely seen. Of course today the officials think the are much a part of he sport as the participants and the kerb strike nonsense is just one way to get their five minutes of fame. The real nonsense is that you still get a strike for unintentional use, such as Todd Kelly on Saturday, yet you can run four wheels deliberately over any of the other kerbs around the track (especially turn 6 & 7) without penalty. |

Back in the day didn't Paul Radisich jump the kerbs all day long and ended up destroying a brand new Falcon. Let them go, if the car breaks it's there own fault.
