Agreed.
Who in their right mind would keep an RS1600? I hope they catch the thieving gits. |

I know that they were made in limited numbers as a guy I used to know brought a new one, he said he was going to my local pub to show it to me , but unfortunately he found out he wasn't a great rally driver and on his way he finished up on going through a hedge and landing it on its side !

Poor sod, obviously loved the car. It isn't worth £15K, but then I suppose another one is not really what he wants back. He wants that one.

OK, some of us fellow Escort owners / AVO club members are spreading the word as far as possible to try and help the owner of this RS2000 get it back. Here is a description from him of signifcant details on the car-
The vinyl roof has slight cracks filled with paint. The windscreen has a small 'bullseye' chip in the drivers side. The windscreen has the original 'Dynatrol' sticker at the passenger side. Rear 1/4 light rubber has a crack which is filled with black mastic. All windows (except doors) have reg number etched (SHA 42N). Leather gear knob with silver centre engraved RS2000 (that's a bit uncommon). Round RS badge - gold on black - fixed to centre console. The car mats are grey with light grey edging RS2000 embroided in a red inset. RS alloys fitted with 185/70 x 13 Semperit tyres. Spare wheel has original dunlop tyre (used). Front and rear shocks are red 'Sachs' items. And some pics. (The car is Daytona Yellow, despite how it looks in them!) Any info please pm and I will pass on. |

After owning a car for that long the emotional attachment must be huge, far beyond the monetary. Poor bloke, hope he gets it back!

I was thinking about the value- normally an RS2000 would be expensive at £15k but the one owner history of this car could push it to that. Most stolen Escorts, especially those with type 49 shells, seem to be taken to break, but I would think this shell would be difficult to shift as is. I guess it could be subjected to an id swap and maybe colour change. What a waste........
