I don't think there's been any doubt for a while that Williams will have two new drivers in 2005.

Frankly I'm sick of hearing the words "source" and "credible". Can we all just cool it with those two words for like a week or something. That would be nice.
Anyway....... If Frank did tell his credible, un-named source this then it's the best decision Frank has made this year! Common sense, of course, says that he made this move some while ago. |

Hopefully the discussion of this can end, at least until an official announcement is made.

I think frank is mad not negotiating with ralf
...at least he could give the imression of wanting him so that ralf doesn't try too hard getting another drive then finds himself without any when franks true intentions become clear |

Webber/Davidson/Heidfeld would be the list of three FW should go for. Sorry Inigo!

OK I'm going to confirm 2 things that my source confirmed today.
1.Ralf has signed with Toyota. 2.Webber will be at Williams next year and expect an announcement on that after the USGP. Now to put the cat ammongst the pigions so to speak. Webbers team mate at Williams is firming as being Anthony Davidson from BAR.He is the short priced favorite to get the second seat. The Grumpy1 Last edited by grumpy1; 13 Jun 2004 at 21:19. |

My sources tell me that without question there will be two drivers with Williams next year!
My sources deal only in absolutes! |

Word at the weekend is that Frank wants Webber and Coulthard, but Patrick Head is less keen on DC.
This was in several of the Sunday papers. |

Everyone seems to be taking it for granted that Webber will go to Williams - it may be so, and I'd be willing to defer to various people's "sources". BUT... Webber is managed by Briatore, who has conspicuously failed thus far to confirm Trulli at Renault for 2005 (perhaps merely as a bargaining tool, but perhaps not), and we are also told that Toyota are making big-money overtures to Webber, money that Williams will not match. The contractual situation with Jaguar is also still far from clear. So perhaps a bit of caution is necessary. After all, as far as I can recall, the following drivers have been linked with a Williams drive next year:
Ralf Schumacher Mark Webber David Coulthard Jacques Villeneuve Mika Hakkinen Kimi Raikkonen Nick Heidfeld Jarno Trulli Giancarlo Fisichella Nico Rosberg Nelson Angelo Piquet Antonio Pizzonia Marc Gene Scott Dixon Anthony Davidson Jenson Button Rubens Barrichello They can't all drive for Frank. |

Delete Häkkinen from that list...
Button, Dixon and Räikkönen have contracts for next year. Does Barrichello have a contract as well, I don't remember. And I don't see Piquet or Rosberg getting the drive, so.. That'd leave it at Ralf Webber DC Jacques Quick Nick Jarno Fisico Pizzonia Gené Ant Davidson And you could probably scrap Ralf as well.. |

Nonetheless, they were all 'connected' with the drive.
