Car looks awesome.
Should be intersting to see how the cars go against the other marques. By looking at the specifications this is the car that Holden should have built for Nations Cup back in 2002. Maybe a car that we could see race in Australia in the future. |

Anyway the " Monaro Mongrel" saga continues with the SPEED GT series in the US. Cadillac are testing a 7 litre , six speed sequential gearbox, 3200lb, highly modified car.
It is starting the same sort of arguements about parity amongst the makes we had here. Last edited by Robert Ryan; 3 Nov 2004 at 09:52. |

maybe they are developing the caddy for the alms? letting 4 doors into gt with the porsches and ferrari?
yeah it does looks nice. i'm pretty sure just about everything in that gto-r is just about the same in the aussie monaro? fully non-production suspension and chassis.. |

I thought from what I read that this car was very much based on the rules to which GRand Am rules regulate.
Eg. Production based 6 litre engine as it is run on the road. 5 speed sequential gearbox. Also its only got 2 doors. By looks of it, it seems pretty legal. Not anything like the saga, that was the Holden Monaro. Just thinking aloud, but Holden printed a book awhile ago about the rebirth of the monaro. Im sure sold quite a few copies. I think a good read or even a short doco for that matter could be on the contreversy and mayhem that this one vehicle caused. Last edited by D.R.T.; 3 Nov 2004 at 11:15. |

GM are about to cancel it because of poor sales.

I'm surprised it hasn't done as well as hoped in the US. A pontiac dealer explained that the only disappointment was with the styling of the vehicle, but that those who had bought a GTO really were happy with it.

I don't think the Monaro will be cancelled just yet. Maybe it might be taken over by HSV.

The GTO sold nearly 3000 in September, which was nearly double the previous month, and above the best projections. Now that the nostrils are on the bonnet (hood) it may start to sell more. Just proves the yanks have dubious taste, but we always knew that.

That Mustang looks great (69 retro). And the Monaro always looks good.

Yep, they both look pretty nice to me. I think the Monaro/Pontiac GTO looks better without the Americanised snout and hood nostrils. The Aussie HSV concept GTS-R is more to my taste, but I'm being picky. I also think that the Mussie would look better in vermilion fire and black, as opposed to the Cobra white with blue. Picky, picky again.
I'd take either just the way they are. Last edited by Aarrgh8; 7 Nov 2004 at 05:58. |

DRT the Caddy "Monaro Mongrel" that runs in the SPEED TV, is very different from the more stock looking Pontiac GTO that is goIng to run in Grand-Am.
