DSC worth its money? (thread closed)
I hope this is the right place to ask this question, and it seems this hasn't really been discussed here in the past.
Simple question: is dailysportscar.com worth its money? They ask 35 pounds a year, which is (even?) more than I pay for my autosport-atlas subscription. And does the site have a bias towards one of the championships like ALMS? Their introductory tour isn't much of a help at that point, so I would like to have some opinions of some subscribers here. |

I encourage everyone to PM Arnage or email him with their answers if they so wish.

DSC is a great website and i totally recommend it... if you don't have/want to put up the money, you can also check out www.the-paddock.net (shameless plug), but at this point DSC has the best resources and access/contacts in the sportscar media world so their reporting reflects that.

I've been interested in DSC, but have never subscribed.
Personally (and IMHO), of the sites I have been to most are similar. Virtually everyone gets the PR releases, which is all the same. Race summaries are just race summaries. Lots of the smaller sites seem afraid to publish insider stories/pics for fear of losing their contacts. Some get more interviews than others, but many have them. Few seem to offer editorials, which is why I enjoy reading sportscarpros.com (not to mention the best pics out there). If DSC has all of that then I'd be interested in taking a closer look. |

I love DSC. Rarely is something covered anywhere else without at least equal or great detail on DSC. It is worth the money to me.
sportscarpro.com is fantastic, although not timely as the news type sites, but sensational photography. I have been impressed with the-paddock.net so far, great coverage of the 'Ring 24 Hours!!! But this forum is about as timely as anything else out there! robert |

DSC IMO is worth its money. It is not however the only way of getting all the news, you can get 90% of the news that DSC gets if you know where to look IMO, not on one single site I admit, but if you are willing to look then you will find the same news stories, just spread about over numerous sites, DSC in that sense is much more convinent. I too agree with the general consensus that DSC goes into race reports and special features better than anyone else.
DSC is worth every penny as it is, but if the cost for the year was say £75 a year I would have to re evaluate the pros and cons, as it is now though £35.00 a year is nothing - well to me anyway, and for what you get on the site you cant really go wrong for £35.00. IMO. |

I'd just like to throw my weight behind DSC also. At less than 10p a day, the sheer volume of news, reports and original editorial is just mindblowing. Yes, you can collate the majority of news items from a combination of other sites, but you will miss so much more.
Of the other sites, only Infoscourse.org holds my interest to a similar degree. Again, stacks of original material but with a bias towards all things Le Mans. |

Sorry to be back again, but Mariantic writes it: the best news site is definitely Infocourses. No unconfirmed rumor, more and more interview, a few boring press and race report, pictures of high quality. I admit there was a time DSC was on top but it isn t anymore. I even suspect this post to be a covered commercial for DSC.... I might be wrong. |

That's very nice for Infocourses, but as long as they don't have a english page it's not interesting for me as I don't speak french, and I think there are a lot of people who see it that way. Also calling this thread a covered commercial seems a bit unnecissary; if you have to spend almost 50€ it's not more than normal imho that you ask others if it's worth it.

For that matter, infoscourse and dailysportscar often collaborate.
dsc also provides the race report sections to Le Mans Racing, by the way. nicos, I'm in a bind over your comment about this being some sort of advert; I admit I'm an advocate and occasional contributor to dsc, so please feel free to PM me if you feel anything is over the top here. |

Someone mentioned press releases, DSC don't do press releases as far as I recall, they get the info themselves wherever possible.
I would seriously reccomend it if you are interested in sportscars, several news items every day, excellent specialist articles, and some great photography... The DSC guys work incredibly hard on the site, they don't just sit in an office all day collecting press releases. |

Notice that Infocourse does'nt ware an "s" at the end... dedicated to the one and only ? Just pulling your leg here... Laurent and Claude - both occasionnal contributors here - would probably precise that there's no comparison, DSC beeing a paying - and professionnal -service. No concurrent on the place at my knowning... and Infocourse beeinin french, the potential attendance has no comparison as well... Quote:

Regarding the number of times I mentionned and linked Infocourse (and Virages) here, you could blame me to advertise them too much... And read the second post of the thread : Paul pushed members to answer by pm, not publicaly... We had that talk ages ago already. No controversy. As DSC stands alone on the "paying sites" market. Check it out, mate. No comparison, and, as Paul mentionned it above, both collaborate significantly. Last edited by Fab; 1 Jul 2005 at 05:18. |
