Rydell irritates Giovanardi

It was just a quite funny thing that happened during the press conferece after the second ETCC race at Anderstorp yesterday... Rydell had the word and he spoke about when J.Müller passed him on the very last lap. Rydell suddenly got a big grin all over the face and said something like (not exactly but almost):

"It is nice do drive with J.Müller unlike some other drivers. We could have close racing wihtout anyone going off the track..."

Rydell was now looking at Giovanardi, laughing together with almost the whole pressroom... Though Giovanardi didn't find it at all amusing sitting there and looking angry staring infront of him...

Not very important stuff, but it gave me a laugh...

Thanks, JM. Maybe not that important, but interesting to hear about.

While much of the appeal of the ETCC may be about the different makes of sporting sedans going at it, the human side is also interesting.

F-1,CART,IRL and NASCAR understand that the drivers are the stars, not the cars. Sportscar racing does not have that and so it lacks the broad appeal and long term success that these other forms of the sport have had.

It is hard for the sports press or even motorsports journalists to become too emotionally involved about an Audi R-8. However, rumors and stories about drivers and their rivalries are interesting to people.
